Each year in January, Contra Costa's Homeless Continuum of Care (CoC), with the help of community volunteers, conducts a comprehensive Point In Time (PIT) count of families and individuals experiencing homelessness. This count provides a one-day snapshot of homelessness and is used to highlight the housing and homeless crisis in the county. We need volunteers to help make this count successful.

This year, the PIT count will include on-foot and vehicle canvassing. Most volunteers will be part of a team in a vehicle conducting an observational count. Other staff, service providers, and law enforcement volunteers will be canvassing communities on foot. Volunteers may also elect to support the kick-off events the morning of the count instead of canvassing. Volunteers will not have direct contact with people being observed for the count.
