we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe."

THIS IS WHY
December was a good month for releases!
On December 10, Chris and Danielle Schley released a red-tailed hawk in Fort Wayne. The bird came to us after a fight with another red-tail. Luckily, her injuries were not too severe, and she didn't have to stay with us very long. She took off almost immediately and flew beautifully from tree to tree. In attendance were the finder and 5 audience members.
On December 28, Chris & Danielle Schley released a young female American Kestrel that came to us after being found freezing on the ground after the recent polar vortex.
Also on December 28, Louie and Lana Lee released a red-tailed hawk in Mongo, IN.

ENRICHING LIVES
Each week, Soarin' Hawk's Enrichment Team makes "toys" for our educational birds to interact with. We've found, through trial and error, that different birds like different kinds of enrichment. For example, vultures Ehr and Poe seem to like enrichment that requires them to solve a "puzzle" in order to get food. Other birds, like Autumn, our new red-tailed hawk, and Athena, the great-horned owl, enjoy tearing things apart (especially if there's food hidden inside!). For the holiday, Autumn and Athena both made short order of their paper Santas.
