January, 2023

Message from Lisa

At Lanier Law Group, P.A., we ended 2022 with a wonderful end of year holiday celebration at the beautiful House At Gatewood and were entertained by Southbound 49. What a terrific band! We have a wonderful work family with the majority of employees having been with me more than 10 years, many more than 15 years, and several more than 20 years. We work hard and we like to play hard. We try to come together at least twice a year, bringing all of our teams from all over the state to one location to play together. This year’s festivities were the best ever.

As we end the year I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the clients who trust us to handle their cases. And I am so thankful for my loyal coworkers who I trust to do this important work shoulder to shoulder with me. I truly love my Lanier Law Group family.

We look forward to some new beginnings in 2023. Todd King sat for and passed the South Carolina Bar Exam in 2021. Now we are able to launch Lanier Law Group’s South Carolina office, headed by Todd King. The new office is opening in January and is located at 3100 Dick Pond Road, Suite A in Myrtle Beach. You read that right – it’s not a typo. For the longest time I would change it to Duck Pond, thinking it had to be a typo. Just know, it’s a great location. It’s conveniently located near the Surfside area of Myrtle Beach, just past the SayeBrook Town Center, minutes from the beautiful Grand Strand of South Carolina. Employees from all over the state are volunteering to work in the new location!

On behalf of everyone in the Lanier Law Group family, I wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2023!

-Lisa

Disabled Woman Crawls From Plane Due To the Absence of Wheelchair

Listen to Lisa chat with Jared and Katie about a woman traveling from Australia to Thailand and when reaching her final destination on a low-budget airline was told she would have to pay to use a narrow airline aisle wheelchair. The passenger refused to pay as this was the first time when any airline asked her to pay for a wheelchair and crawled until she reached her personal wheelchair waiting for her on the jet bridge. Lisa's Buckeye Recipe

I make these every December to give out to friends and family. They are so delicious and easy to make. There is no baking and thus the precision measuring is not such a big deal. And dipping the frozen peanut butter balls in chocolate is strangely satisfying. Try this recipe and you will not be sorry.

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter (356g)

• 1/2 cup salted butter (113g)

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• 3 cups powdered sugar (360g)

• 15 ounces Ghirardelli dark chocolate melting wafers

Instructions:

• Beat the peanut butter and butter together in a large bowl until creamy.

• Add the powdered sugar and vanilla, then beat again until combined. Stop and scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl.

• Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop the peanut butter mixture into Tablespoon-sized balls onto the parchment paper. Roll them between your palms until they are round and smooth, then place them back on the parchment paper. Freeze for 20 minutes (but no more than 30 minutes).

• Meanwhile, melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave using short 20-second bursts of heat, stirring between each burst until melted and smooth.

• Once the peanut butter balls are well-chilled, remove them from the freezer and skewer one with a toothpick. Dip the peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate until mostly covered, leaving a small round opening on top to give them the appearance of a buckeye ball. Gently shake off excess chocolate so it doesn't pool too much on the baking sheet, then return the buckeye to the baking sheet so the chocolate can set up.

• Repeat with the remaining peanut butter balls, then use your fingers or a paring knife to smooth over the toothpick mark. Let the chocolate set up before enjoying.
