Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles on their Victory in the 2018 Super Bowl Game.  It took lots of heart and soul to win this game against the Patriots.  

February is Heart Health Month.  Joseph Pilates describes in his book Return to Life Through Contrology how his method of exercise can be a bodily house-cleaning with blood circulation.  See below in our Exercises of the month a few of the Pilates exercises that will keep your heart and lungs healthy.

How long have you been studying Pilates?
Hilary:  I0 years 

What brought you to Pilates?  

Hilary: My sister was studying Pilates in NY with a Romana's Pilates teacher and told me about it. I was intrigued by what she told me and then looked for a local studio for myself. That's when I found June Hines Pilates.

How has Pilates helped you?

Exercises of the Month

Sharon Michels performs the 100
Here are a few exercises that can work your heart and get the lungs sending fresh oxygen into the system.

The 100
This exercise works the lungs and heart and strengthens the powerhouse.  The arms pump vigorously as the lungs fill for 5 counts and exhale for 5 counts.  It warms up the body to prepare for more of the workout.

Double Leg Stretch
Working the powerhouse strength and the lungs, this exercise extends the legs, arms and body to pull in air and it curls into a small round shape to squeeze the air from the lungs and body.  It is also a major stretch.


This exercise can be performed on the reformer or the mat.  It is a breathing exercise to cleanse the lungs as the body squeezes out the lungs through the position.

Pilates and You

Sandy Adcock  is at again with teasers everywhere.  Here is Sandy in Panama City doing poolside Pilates.  

The teaser is a challenging exercise as it requires, strength, flexibility, balance and control.  When learning the exercise, your teacher gives the student an assist by holding the legs in the 45 degree angle as the student rolls up to reach to the "V" shape of the teaser.

We'd like to remind you that you can now schedule your lessons and classes online.  We are happy to help you with your scheduling, but wanted to give the opportunity to control your scheduling of lessons and classes.  With this option you will go to our website junehinespilates.com and navigate to Schedule - Rates and then to Attend A Class.  If you have been to our studio before, you will already have an account within our system.  You will be prompted to register to create a user name and password to access your account.  

With this option you can schedule or cancel within a 24 hour window. You can pay for your classes online as well.  If you try this and are not successful, let us know and we will help you through the process.
