MIGHTY MIRACLES! January 2021

Goodbye 2020...... HELLO 2021! Happy New Year to all of our players, families, volunteers and supporters from the Miracle League North Bay Board of Directors! As the year comes to an end, we want to take a moment to reflect back and thank everyone for their support.

Even though there were no bats cracking, balls flying nor Athletes rounding the bases with their Buddies, we still managed to have some fun in 2020. On three separate occasions, Homer and his friends formed a caravan to parade to our players' homes, bringing cheer and treats and lots of smiles. Zoom BINGO games continue to be popular, as well. There was even a guest appearance at one game by Matt Cain, Bay Area Hall of Fame Pitcher! We also started a Pen Pal program that has been a hit with Players and Volunteers. In addition, we continue to work with the City of Petaluma Parks and Rec, Petaluma Police Dept, COTS and the Downtown Streets Team to keep our Field and Complex secure, which has been a bit challenging during these COVID times. We really appreciate the wonderful partnerships we have with these great organizations. It is our wish that 2021 finds us back out on the Miracle League Field, bigger and better, with the balls once again flying and the crowds cheering! Thanks so much for your continued support. HOMER'S HIGHLIGHTS:  Rip City Riders

Rip City Riders California are a group of individuals brought together by a common interest, the love and freedom of riding motorcycles. We strive to establish a positive image for motorcycle enthusiasts and are not affiliated with any clubs or organizations. Our mission is to benefit Marin and Sonoma counties through charitable events and donations and to support other organizations that help the less fortunate in our communities. Our reason for helping the Miracle League out is to see the overwhelming smiles, happiness and joy we get from the players. Being a motorcycle club, we know what it’s like to be looked at differently and we appreciate the inclusivity that the Miracle League embraces. By far our favorite ML event has to be the first time we played ball on the field running bases with the players. A close 2nd is letting the athletes sit on our motorcycles and watching the smiles grow.  In addition, we had a wonderful time joining in the three Homer's Honk 'n Cheer caravan events, having lots of fun as we safely guided the vehicles through the streets to visit players' homes bringing smiles and treats. Our hope for 2021 is to get rid of this virus and get us all back on the field.

What are you looking forward to in 2021?

Christina Tetreault, ML Social Media Queen & Volunteer:  "I am looking forward to setting new goals, for advancements in science and technology, and to hopefully be able to safely hug all of my friends and family!"

Maureen Kennedy, ML Board of Directors: "I'm looking forward to the distribution of the vaccines so that we can get back to "normal". I'm eager to visit friends and family, go to restaurants, watch a movie at a theater and travel. I'm also looking forward to some hugs!"

HOMER, MLNB Mascot: "I'm really looking forward to my debut on the Miracle League Field, so I don't have to play baseball alone in my backyard. I really want to meet all my friends there and do some running around the bases! Oh and I'm also looking forward to eating hot dogs at the ball park!"
