Happy New Year 5782!
How Rosh Hashanah
Can Transform Our Lives
Greetings and Shalom!

As we approach the upcoming Jewish New Year 5782, I would encourage everyone to read this outstanding article by the late Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks. His essay, "How Rosh Hashanah Can Transform Our Lives" is one of many inspirational and motivational essays featured in his regular column "Covenant and Conversation."

Rabbi Sacks writes:

"The genius of Judaism was to take eternal truths and translate them into time, into lived experiences. Rosh Hashanah, the anniversary of the creation of humanity, invites us to live and feel the human condition in graphic ways."

This column contains some of the most important ideas in Jewish thought, in language expressed with compassion spoken directly to the reader. This is among the most meaningful articles I've read. Indeed, Rosh Hashanah is transformative as are the words conveying its beautiful message of renewal, forgiveness and hope.

Although it is written for the High Holidays, the wisdom that Rabbi Sacks shares in the eight eternal truths applies to everyone willing to listen to its significance, and is for all faiths and creeds.

To everyone, Shana Tovah!

The Heartbeat Bill Is
Now the Law in Texas!
It all began 48 years ago in Texas with the horrible Roe v. Wade decision, and we are hoping the landmark pro-life victory this week will not end in Texas.

Because as of now, The Heartbeat Bill is now officially the LAW in the Great State of Texas!

Late last night, the Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 victory for the pro-life movement to allow the Heartbeat Law to stand. All abortions after six weeks pregnancy are now illegal in Texas.

Approximately 130 babies will be saved every day. The new law can prevent 85% of abortions in the state.

Wow! (At least, for now.)

The U.S. Supreme Court rejected the last desperate attempt by the pro-abortion forces to stop the law. But the ruling was 5-4, with Chief Justice John Roberts siding with the liberals on the Court.

Every Justice appointed by President Trump ruled in favor of LIFE!
Justice Roberts is turning out to be a disaster. In the Hellerstedt decision, Justice Roberts ruled that abortionists should be required to comply with safety standards of other medical facilities in the state of Texas, and to have hospital admitting privileges. Four years later in a nearly identical case in Louisiana, Roberts reversed his previous decision and ruled with the leftists on the Court to strike down that state's pro-life law, which would have protected pregnant women seeking abortions. Roberts' decisions are unpredictable. On abortion rulings, he is more like former Justice David Souter, and that is not good.

Whether the Heartbeat Law remains in effect and can withstand legal challenges remains to be seen. The Supreme Court will next be hearing the Mississippi Dobbs case.

As we've mentioned before, that pro-life law bans dismemberment abortions that occur after 15 weeks gestation, when the unborn child feels pain.

Hopefully, this Texas ruling should set a precedent.

This is great news for the efforts of dedicated pro-lifers, and most important for the unborn children who will be saved in Texas - AND for pregnant women whom we will encourage to visit Pregnancy Resource Centers for the help they need.

Bravo Texas!

Here are articles from around the web on the latest news regarding the Texas Heartbeat Law:

The editors of National Review agree with the Supreme Court ruling:

Excellent article by Catherine Glenn-Foster of Americans United for Life details "peer-reviewed science" about the unborn child's development at six weeks post-conception:

We applaud Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, who supports the new Texas pro-life law:

From LiveAction.org:

From World Net Daily:

The left is having conniptions since the ruling last night. Pro-abortion House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) has vowed to have the House take up the radical pro-abortion bill, the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act” that would enshrine Roe v. Wade into federal law:

In their report on the ruling, The NY Times stated that Chief Justice John Roberts joined the liberal members of the Court in his dissent. Roberts already is a liberal member of the Court. The article can be read at the following link:

Jewish group seeks to stop Arizona's new abortion restrictions
The National Council of Jewish Women Arizona is involved in a lawsuit to prevent a pro-life Arizona law from going into effect. The bill protects unborn babies with disabilities such as Down syndrome from being killed by abortion.
Civia Tamarkin, president of NCJW Arizona, incorrectly states that "Jewish law is clear that life begins at birth."

Cecily Routman, President of the Jewish Pro-Life Foundation counters Ms. Tamarkin's false statement and provides the authentic and correct traditional Jewish position on abortion:

“The abortion industry is antithetical to Judaism, which is based on compassion, protecting innocent life, respecting women, nurturing families and living our biblical commandments to choose life and multiply and bring a vision of God’s will into the world.”

Abortion Hurts. It's Time To Heal.
We must revalue life and give women life-affirming options to keep their babies. We have a number of important pregnancy resource centers listed below that provide compassionate assistance to pregnant women in need.

Abortion regret is a common occurrence in post-abortive women and men. The mainstream media is pro-abortion and ignores the fact that many women and men suffer long term grief, wishing they can undo the choice they made.

Tikvat Rachel is a unique program developed specifically for Jewish women and men suffering with feelings of pain and loss from a previous abortion. We offer an ongoing teshuvah-based program that provides a safe, compassionate and confidential healing pathway so you can recover from the pain of a past abortion experience.

Our next series of Zoom meetings
is planned for late October.

The meeting will be ongoing, every week. Contact Barbara at 347-566-7898 for more information.
Pregnancy Resource Centers Remain Open

In the midst of the COVID-19 national crisis, there are pregnancy centers that remain open. If you are pregnant and need help or know someone who is considering abortion, there are life-affirming options available. Please visit the following organization links:
