January 15, 2021
Dear CNG Parent Community:
Greetings to all of you and Happy New Year as we begin 2021 with great expectations for a successful second semester! I hope this message finds everyone healthy, safe, and well-rested after spending time with your families and loved ones. We look forward to starting virtual classes for all students K4-12 this coming Tuesday, January 19th as originally planned.
As we look ahead to next week with Bogota currently on red-alert status, the Secretaría de Educación has announced that schools are precluded from holding on-campus classes during this time (link here). Given this announcement as well as additional lockdowns in several city sectors, campus access remains restricted for the majority of our personnel until the current status changes. Due to the fluid nature of the situation, we are already in the process of scenario planning to resume hybrid learning as soon as restrictions are lifted for private schools. In advance preparation of that time, we are planning several options for implementing our restart protocols, which will include covid-19 testing, and we will inform our staff and parent community once those dates are finalized.
Given the current red-alert status in the city, please make a note that we are highly unlikely to schedule any testing times within the next two weeks as previously planned for students in Groups A and B. As we continue to monitor the situation, we will inform you once we arrive at the appropriate time to conduct advance testing -- within the optimal time window -- before our hybrid start. Similar to the events of first semester, we will need to be ready for whatever contingencies take place and then take advantage of the opportunities once they come our way. We are fully prepared and ready for whatever challenges lie ahead of us, and we remain committed to providing a positive and safe learning environment for your children regardless of the modality.
Sincerely,
Dr. Eric H. Habegger
