Happy New Year from Adopt A Golden Atlanta!
As we welcome 2026, I want to pause and say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to every person who makes Adopt A Golden Atlanta what it is.
To our volunteers: you are the backbone of this organization. Whether you foster, transport, screen applications, attend Meet & Greets, help behind the scenes, or step in wherever you’re needed, your time, compassion, and commitment change lives every single day.
To our donors and supporters: your generosity allows us to say “yes” to dogs who have nowhere else to turn. Because of you, we can cover critical medical care, surgeries, rehabilitation, and ongoing treatment for Goldens who need it most. The medical needs never stop, and neither does our responsibility to meet them with care and urgency.
And to our broader AGA community: thank you for believing in this mission, for spreading the word, and for standing with us as we do this important work together.
Looking ahead, I’m incredibly excited about what this year holds. We have strong momentum, an engaged and passionate team, and a shared commitment to doing right by the dogs who depend on us. There is still much work to be done, but there is no doubt in my mind that together, we can meet the challenges ahead and continue changing lives—one Golden at a time.
Here’s to a year filled with teamwork, compassion, and many happy endings.
Happy New Year!

New Year, Healthy Pups: Pet Care Reminders for 2026
| | A new year is the perfect time to reset, not just for us, but for our four-legged family members too! As we head into 2026, here are a few important reminders to help keep your pets happy, healthy, and safe all year long: | | |
✔️ Refresh Nutrition & Exercise Goals
Consider whether your pet’s diet or activity level needs adjusting. A little extra movement and balanced nutrition go a long way toward long-term health.
✔️ Don’t Forget Dental Care
Dental health is often overlooked, but it’s critical to your pet’s overall well-being. Ask your vet about cleanings or at-home dental routines.
✔️ Plan Ahead for Emergencies
It’s always smart to know where your nearest emergency vet is and have a plan in place, just in case.
✔️ Schedule Annual Vet Visits
Start the year with a wellness check. Annual exams help catch issues early and keep vaccinations and preventative care up to date.
✔️ Review Preventatives
Make sure your pet is protected year-round with heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. If you’re unsure what’s best for your dog, your vet can help guide you.
✔️ Update ID & Microchip Information
New phone number? New address? Take a moment to update your pet’s ID tags and microchip registration. This small step can make a big difference if your pet ever gets lost.

Thank you for being such loving pet parents.
Together, we’re setting our dogs (and ourselves!) up for a healthy, happy year ahead.

Hi everyone, I’m Arya, a sweet 3-year-old golden-hearted girl ready to start my brand-new life! Not too long ago, I was surrendered by my breeder to another Golden Retriever rescue. They were small and short on fosters, so they asked if AGA could step in to help, and here I am, already feeling so loved and cared for. I’m a happy, affectionate girl who loves people and warms up quickly. I’m house-trained, gentle, and oh-so-sweet.

Best Healthy Dog Snacks:
Safe Human Foods Your Dog Can Enjoy
| | |
Your pet might not jump up and down with excitement over a stray broccoli floret, but small amounts of fruits and vegetables rank among some of the best types of people snacks for your pet.
Experiment to find what your pet enjoys most and be sure to thoroughly wash fruits and vegetables first. By offering fresh produce as occasional dog treats, you're providing a healthy addition to your pet's diet, rather than simply filling him up with less nutritious snacks.
