A Word from Wendy - Our Executive Director

It's important to keep in mind that our pets need extra protection when it comes to cold weather. Winter safety for dogs and cats—especially in below-freezing temps—will mean making some immediate adjustments to your pet's routines that reflect the weather.

Winter Pet Safety Tips

  • Keep Pets Indoors When Possible
  • Provide Outdoor Shelter for Your Pets
  • Care for Your Pet's Feet
  • Provide Extra Food and Water
  • Use Leashes When Walking Near Water
  • Don't Lock Pets in Cars
  • Keep Antifreeze Out of Reach from Pets
  • Check Your Vehicle Before Starting the Engine

We are SO very grateful for your support this past year--Click here for the 2022 Statistics Recap Video:

CHQFPC 2022 Stats in Review

To all of our supporters,

You continue to keep us “on our tails!” As one of our providers of financial support, you expect us to wisely manage and use your contributions to make a positive change in the lives of dogs and cats.

We work diligently to exceed your expectations. We give our best care and services to our customers daily. We strive hard to make you a proud supporter of “your” Clinic. Ask our customers and they will tell you: “They are pros at what they do.” What they mean is, we are:

  • PROductive – Even through the shutdowns and supply chain shortages of Covid, we continue to serve our clients with the utmost care for the health and wellbeing of both our four-legged patients and their two-legged owners.
  • PROactive – Spay & neuter is THE MOST HUMANE WAY to keep precious cats & priceless dogs off the streets and alleys of St. Louis.
  • PROfessional – We truly care about every animal we serve. We are honored over 100,000 pet owners trusted us with their precious fur-family member.
  • PROficient – Choose to give to Carol House Quick Fix Pet Clinic and get more than just a “thank you”, you can see your dollars in action through 50+ animals being served daily.

With this sincere and PROlific request for your financial help, we know it’s people like you who are and will continue to make a positive change in the lives of pets in St. Louis and surrounding communities.

If you attended our events this year – we thank you. If you volunteered at the Clinic – we thank you. If you shared our mission with others – we thank you. If you donated supplies – we thank you. And, in anticipation of your financial support…WE THANK YOU!

For our first “Staff Spotlight” we will focus on our wonderful Executive Director- Wendy Heckman. Wendy has been involved with the clinic since its planning stages early in 2010. As the Clinic Director she oversees the day-to-day operations for the entire clinic and supports the Board in ensuring the overall financial health of the organization and that the organization is meeting its goals and mission. While she delegates duties as needed to achieve clinic goals and oversees support staff to ensure individual duties are being completed, she daily steps in and works alongside staff as needed to meet goals.

Wendy loves greeting clients and their pets in the lobby, and weekly can be found sweeping up a mess on the floor. In her spare time, she likes to spend quiet time at home with her dogs, and go to dinner and the winery with friends. Her pit Tank has been the Clinic's "Mascot" and was on a CHQFPC billboard!

Wendy believes that nothing else we do will alleviate as much suffering or prevent the killing or “warehousing” of adoptable pets as quickly or efficiently as spaying and neutering. Prevention of the next generation of homeless pets is our goal, and this life saving work would not be possible without your continued support! We are eternally grateful for your gifts of financial support, materials and your time.

How to make a Cat Shelter-

with Bonnie The Cat Lady

St. Louis winters are tough on outdoor pets. Bonnie – our “Community Cat Coordinator" demonstrates how to create a CAT SHELTER to keep community cats warm!

You only need 5 materials to make these, and you can click here to watch the video of her making 2 shelters.

Cat Shelter Video

Materials needed are: A cooler (Styrofoam or hard shell) caulk, duct tape, a knife or 6” hole saw to cut the hole, and clean straw to put inside. I learned to NOT put hay, blankets or paper inside because these materials can absorb water and freeze, which makes the cooler cold. Also, I learned this: HAY is food, STRAW is bedding! Bonnie is so wise and dedicated to keeping our community cats warm, and she also helps catch feral cats and brings them in for spay/neutering services.

Bonnie is AMAZING!!

A Rolla Review

We are just so proud to announce we have EXPANDED our clinic to a second site: Rolla!

We have been working in this rural area for a few years and it just seemed the right time to open a "Satellite Clinic" there. It opened on August 24, 2022 for wellness services and began spays/neuters October 18, 2022. There are 5 staff members, and we hope to have a ribbon cutting ceremony there this spring. Enjoy a few pictures

of our wonderful staff and the clinic cat-Carl.
