The City of Perry invites the community to attend a public meeting to learn more about the EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant for the former Stanley Assemblage Site.
The meeting will be presented by PPM Consultants and will include an overview of the project and an opportunity for public input.

Capital Improvement Projects at Rozar Park Soccer Fields
Rozar Park is undergoing capital improvements to enhance recreational opportunities and better serve the community.
The upgrades focus on improving infrastructure and expanding amenities to support youth sports, family activities, and long-term use.
A major project includes the construction of two new U10 soccer fields designed to meet youth soccer standards, the fields will increase availability for leagues and practices and strengthen Rozar Park’s role as a hub for youth athletics.

Mayor and Council joined Public Works Superintendent Ansley White in recognizing Jacques “Turbo” Whitfield for his recent honor as a Robins Regional Chamber Rockstar, which he received on stage at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting.
Jacques was nominated and selected as a Rockstar to “celebrate and acknowledge the leaders whose courage, heart, and vision make our community shine.” The Chamber describes these Rockstars as “the friendly faces and steady hands that power our businesses, lift our region, and show us what true service looks like”- a description that perfectly reflects Turbo’s impact.
Since joining the City of Perry in 2018, Jacques has been an integral part of the success of the Public Works Department. Known for his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership, he makes a lasting difference not only within his department, but for everyone who has the opportunity to work with him.

2025 Placemaking Grant
Thanks to a 2025 Placemaking Grant from the Georgia Cities Foundation, new amenities are coming to enhance this gateway into Historic Downtown Perry. Outdoor musical instruments will soon be installed as part of Phase 1, creating an interactive play and creativity zone for visitors of all ages.
Phase 2 will add a new picnic table, giving families and guests a comfortable place to relax, enjoy a snack, and gather together.
These improvements help transform Welcome Park into a more engaging, inviting, and community-centered space for everyone.

New Training Simulator Enhances Officer Safety
With the support of the Perry Police Foundation, the Perry Police Department unveiled a new training simulator that places officers in interactive, real-life scenarios focused on de-escalation and use-of-force decision-making.
The simulator recreates familiar local settings, such as the Fairgrounds, and high-pressure situations, providing realistic training in a safe, controlled environment.
It will also be used in the Citizens Police Academy and Firearm Safety classes. We are grateful to the Perry Police Foundation for investing in the safety of our officers and our community.

Perry Police Department Drone Program
The Perry Police Department has developed a new Drone Program to strengthen investigative capabilities, support accident reconstruction, and enhance search operations.
This advanced technology allows officers to respond more effectively in critical situations and gather information safely and efficiently.
The program has already made a meaningful impact, playing a key role in the successful location of a missing autistic child. This early success highlights how the Drone Program is improving public safety and helping officers better serve and protect the community.

November 2025 Perry Fire & Emergency Services Stats
The City of Perry Fire & Emergency Services Department received a total of 277 calls during the month of November in 2025.
The Perry Fire Department is a 2-station department that contains a staff of firefighters providing fire protection, emergency medical services, technical rescue operations, fire safety education, fire cause investigation, and fire code inspections to a population of over 26,000 across 27.9 square miles.

| | Preparedness Makes the Difference | | |
City of Perry Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to a mutual-aid request to assist the Houston County Fire Department with a high-angle rescue involving an employee trapped in an elevator shaft.
The incident came just one day after Perry crews completed their monthly technical rescue training, which focused on scenarios similar to this rescue.
These high-risk, low-frequency incidents highlight the importance of ongoing training and preparedness. The coordinated teamwork between the City of Perry and Houston County Fire Department allowed for a safe, efficient rescue and a positive outcome.
We are grateful for the strong partnerships we share with neighboring agencies and proud of the professionalism and readiness displayed by all involved.

Gardening with the Masters Spring Series
The University of Georgia Houston County Extension Office will host a four-part gardening class series each Tuesday in March at 5:30 p.m.
March 10: Starting Seeds for Your Garden
March 17: Create Garden Gold by Composting
March 24: Grow Your Own Herbs
March 31: Enjoy Fresh Veggies in Your Home Garden
Classes cover seed starting, composting, herbs, and growing fresh vegetables. Each session is $15 and open to anyone interested.
Classes will be held at the Houston Extension Office Pavilion and Hafley Park. To register, please call 478-987-2028.
