From risk to opportunity - Tabitha
“Tabitha was knocked down a lot, but she always got back up,” said Jennifer Goodrich.

Tabitha came through Pivot’s doors when she was 16 years old and two years behind in school. She's now completed her course work and will walk this May, earning her high school diploma at 22-years-old.

Our heartfelt thanks to Kami

January 15, 2019

It’s always tough to see someone so formative and impactful leave our lives, so you’ll understand why our hearts are so heavy. Due to family concerns, Kami is relocating to Tulsa and will have to leave her position of leadership at Pivot. We are sad to see her go but understand that family always comes first.

Over the last three years, Kami has led our organization through tremendous growth and change. We are grateful for her time with Pivot and wish her many blessings in her next endeavor.

On behalf of the board of trustees, it is my great pleasure to announce Jennifer Goodrich as our acting interim President and CEO. For almost 20 years, Jennifer has been an integral part of our therapeutic care team and has for the last several years served as Vice President of Programs. The growth of Pivot’s programs, and the life changing outcomes being achieved by the youth we serve, are in large part a result of her leadership, passion and understanding of the kids we help, and the staff she marshals to such fantastic effect.

Join me and the rest of Pivot in thanking Kami for her dedicated service, and in wishing Jennifer the best in continuing the upward momentum of Pivot, A  Turning Point for Youth.

Pivot Talk

Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, “what are you doing for others?” (Martin Luther King, Jr.)

Pivot as an organization, and its dedicated staff, responds to this call with action, daily. In 2019, we will continue to be a leader and an engaged partner in our community to address key issues such as youth homelessness, challenges faced when transitioning out of foster care and responding effectively to juvenile justice issues – breaking down barriers to meet the needs of the youth we serve.

We will be a force for shifting the conversation from ‘what’s wrong with you’ to ‘what happened to you’ by providing cutting edge trauma responsive care and educational opportunities to those working with youth in our schools. Most importantly we will continue to connect with youth to empower them, providing them the resources they need for long term success. By our actions we will say, ‘we see you’, ‘we hear you’ and ‘you matter.’ More young people, like Tabitha, will know their past experiences do not dictate their future. That they are worthy of more.

One of the most impactful ways for you to help us transition youth from a life of fear and instability to one of hope and opportunity is through your charitable gifts. If you haven’t already, please consider sponsoring our annual event, One Eighty, an evening benefiting Pivot . You will find information below.

Your Support Brought Holiday Smiles

This holiday season, more than 100 young people had a holiday to remember. On December 13, Pivot hosted a holiday party with great food, games, gifts, and a very busy photo-booth, for more than 60 youth. For those who could not attend, they received their presents by special delivery from our team here at Pivot. The holiday celebration concluded Christmas morning when the youth in our shelter woke up to a room filled with brightly packaged gifts hand-picked just for them.

Our hearts were filled with joy and hope this holiday season from the outpouring of gifts and countless hours served by volunteers with the sole purpose of putting smiles on the faces of our youth. Special thanks to two anonymous donors, Edmond Dental Center, First Christian Church, the Hast Family, Insight Creative Group, Mission Quilters, OKC Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha, Revenue Management Solutions, SmileTime Photo Booth, Ted's Cafe Escondido, our Teen Service Board, Tinker Federal Credit Union, Zonta Club of Central Oklahoma and other private donors.

Thank you to everyone who helped build positive memories for our young people.
Workplace Warriors!

Our thanks to everyone who supported Pivot via payroll deductions or one-time gifts through your workplace giving campaigns including the United Way of Central Oklahoma Campaign, Heart of the City Campaign and State Charitable Campaign. It’s a privilege to be invited to speak to your employees and host your groups on a tour of our campus. Your contribution will make a positive impact on the lives of youth in Central Oklahoma.
