As 2017 approaches and the new legislative term comes closer, we gathered a team of young leaders to help our cause and spread our mission. Our mission: bridging our neighborhoods with our government. This diverse group of young people have been an example of what Georgia has to offer. Please taker the time to meet our team!
Meet the Brenda Lopez Team

Alexander Herrera
Born in Comas, Lima, Peru, Alexander Herrera was surrounded by very few opportunities for a decent upbringing. His family relocated to Metro-Atlanta in 1998, Atlanta was seen as an emerging global city, thanks in large part to the 1994 Summer Olympics. He's been a Gwinnett County Public School student for all his public education. He graduated from Meadowcreek High School as part of the Class of 2012.   Shortly before graduating High School, he was awarded the Goizueta Scholarship, a full-ride scholarship to Georgia State University. He attends Georgia State University, and is expected to graduate Spring 2017 with a B.A. in Economics and a Minor in Public Policy .

Anthony Nguyen
Anthony Nguyen is a third year Biological Sciences major at Georgia State University. He has spent his college career empowering minorities in multiple cultural organizations, advocating for the student body in the Student Government Association, and serving the university as a goodwill ambassador. Over the years, he's gained a passion for advocacy work, community relations and doing whatever it takes to increase the minority voice in our government's decision-making processes. His current goals are to gain exposure and experience in government work and to attend law school.

Anthony Pacheco
Anthony Pacheco is a Georgia grown first-generation college student, tracing his family roots back to Oaxaca, Mexico. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Georgia State University. As an avid environmentalist, he has interned for major landscape firms in the metro Atlanta area and has recently interned for the Atlanta Mayor's Office of Sustainability. As a science artist, he has published artwork for literary journals and has been featured in numerous student art exhibitions including at the Woodruff Arts Center. He is also a volunteer and strong supporter of civic engagement. He has done community outreach for various political candidates in Gwinnett County by empowering citizens to participate in the voting process.   Anthony plans to further his studies to become a certified landscape designer and green industry entrepreneur by combining business, science & art to connect people with the built environment.

Asma Elhuni
Asma Elhuni is college student working towards her bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies at Georgia State University. The recipient of the university's 2016 MLK Humanitarian Award, Asma tries to listen to and uplift the voices of groups often times marginalized by society. She's currently on the Advisory Board of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Georgia and an organizer for the United Students Against Sweatshops at Georgia State University. As a volunteer with GA Close UP, a nonpartisan educational organization, Asma helps educate students, teachers, and citizens about public policy in Georgia. She also volunteers her time with many other grass roots organizations, most recently with NAACP voter protection monitoring. 

Evelyn Thomas
Evelyn Thomas has a master of science in Organizational Leadership from Brenau University and bachelor in Political Science from Georgia State University. She has 8 years of experience in political writing.  Evelyn is creator of Eve's Politic.  She has experience in campaigns and mobilizing through the Gwinnett Young Democrats and Georgia Victory Campaign.  She plans to work with media and communications and integrating those industries with public policy and government affairs work.   

Jorge Granados
Jorge Granados is a current Georgia State University student with a major in Business Administration. As a business major he is currently a manager at Bruster's Ice Cream on Indian Trail and Pleasant Hill Road. Jorge was also an intern at Scottrade, an investment company where Jorge grew his skills as an entrepreneur and future stockholder.  In addition to work and school, Jorge wants to learn to incorporate business and good public policy and governance. 

Luis Montes
Born and raised in Atlanta, Luis Montes is a computer science major at Georgia State University with a passion in politics and technology. Luis plans to use his skills as a technology specialist to ensure proper  management  in government policy regarding technology and online  surveillance . He has been outspokenly against unauthorized invasion of privacy by the NSA on American citizens and illegal hacking on behalf of the United States government. He  hopes  to change the landscape in ethical online  surveillance. Luis gives lectures on anonymity and protection of personal information through the web. He plans to join one of the United States intelligence agencies after graduating. 

Marisol Estrada
Marisol Estrada is a recent graduate from Armstrong State University with majors in political science and Spanish majors. While in college Marisol has taken on numerous student leadership positions at her university and has worked and volunteered countless hours within her community. She describes herself as ambitious, open minded, and caring. She is committed to providing access and opportunity to all Georgia students especially as it relates to education.  Marisol plans on attending law school next year.
