Happy New Year from St. Marys Riverkeeper!

Every Dollar Makes A Difference!

Help us finish out 2024 strong by donating today.

We are so close to reaching our $10,000 Matching Donation Challenge! Thanks to the generosity of Wende and Michael Burdick, every donation through the end of the year has double the impact.

Your donation will provide supplies for our River cleanups, keep our Citizen Scientists equipped to test the quality of our river monthly, and engage our watershed community in advocacy efforts, outreach events, and experiential learning opportunities.

We are looking forward to another great year of protecting our St. Marys River with the support of our watershed community. #ProtectWhatYouLove

Special New Year "Thank You's"

Our work would not be possible without the dedication of our Citizen Scientists. Concerned citizens ensure our work to monitor our waterways on a regular basis is grounded in science to support our advocacy efforts and results in improving public health.

In 2024, our water quality testing program made a big impact:

  • Nearly 300 sites were tested across the watershed! Sampling occurs by land and by water.
  • Our partnership in a federal 319 grant to identify and pumpout/replace failing septic tanks in the City of Homeland (Charlton County) progressed with community engagement and contamination source tracking.
  • The Horsepen Creek Improvement Team (of which St. Marys Riverkeeper is part of) was presented with the Clean 13 award through Georgia Water Coalition.
  • Because of our successful water quality testing program, St. Marys Riverkeeper has been asked to serve on the Emergency Management Planning Committee in three of our four counties. Post storm floodwaters can be dangerous to public health and safety. Our partnership with the counties will provide more immediate results as the state might be slower to respond due to addressing the needs of more heavily impacted areas.

Thank you to our team of Citizen Scientists! We appreciate you!

A big THANK YOU to Sonofarious for hosting a benefit concert to celebrate the remarkable ocean, rivers, creeks, and marshes that sustain us while also supporting St. Marys Riverkeeper's mission to protect our waterways from Oke to Ocean. Both concert dates were sold out resulting in nearly $2,000 going to support St. Marys Riverkeeper!

To everyone who has supported us in 2024! Our work as an independent voice for the St. Marys River is made possible by YOU! Thank you for being part of our journey.
