New Year, New Actions by Congress

As you likely know, Congress ended 2018 by passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that includes several provisions and related changes expected to impact people with disabilities. Most important, the bill reduces federal revenue by at least $1.5 trillion.

Lawmakers, including Wisconsin Speaker Paul Ryan, have indicated Congress will now look to reduce the deficit by making changes to entitlement programs, which include Medicaid, Social Security and Medicare. In Wisconsin, programs that people with disabilities rely upon - like Family Care, IRIS, Children's Long-Term Supports, ForwardHealth and school therapies are funded through Medicaid.
