Another Month of Caring
January 3rd, 2018 - Volume 16 Issue 1
Hunger-Free Holidays Announcement!

Did we reach our goal?

Yes we did!  Thanks to the many neighbors, organizations and businesses, 2017 was an amazing year for The Caring Place Food Pantry!  We exceeded our goal of collecting 200,000 pounds in the last 3 months of the year.  By the end of the year, David Earl, our Facilities and Food Pantry Director counted 208,377 pounds!

Thank you for your support!  If you had a lot of fun collecting this season, don't forget hunger is a problem all year long.  We happily accept your donations 12 months a year.

Communication Changes Coming Your Way
We want to be sure that every time we send you an email, you are excited to open it and learn all about what is happening at The Caring Place, so in 2018 we are trying something new.  You will receive ONE information-packed eNewsletter from us each month.  Occasionally when we have special events we may still send out a special edition like we have in the past, but in general our emails to you will reduce this year!

What else will change?  You may have noticed we have become a lot more active on Social Media.  This is a cost effective way for us to reach further into the community.  If you are on Social Media we encourage to find us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or YouTube!

You'll find our stores, The Shops at The Caring Place and Second Helping on Yelp, Google Business and Bing Business.  Those are great places for you to go review our thrift shops, so we can keep happy customers like you coming through the doors!

If you don't participate much in the online world, don't worry, you will still find all the important things you need to know in THIS newsletter and on our website!
This is your chance to learn about the organization you hear about in Georgetown called The Caring Place.  The Caring Place is hosting a "Chat & Chew" event for the community at the end of January.  We will focus our chat on our programs, services, volunteers, our beautiful history, and our community impact. Lunch will be provided, so RSVP is required.

The Good Neighbor Fund

Want to learn more or fill out a form to help?  Just head to our website here.
Have you heard of the Good Neighbor Fund?

Each month, families facing a serious crisis like a job loss or medical emergency seek help from The Caring Place. That support, including assistance with utility bill payments, can make a crucial difference when it seems as though there is no place to turn.

The Good Neighbor Fund, a program sponsored by Georgetown Utility Systems is easy to donate to, simply by adding $1, $2, or $5 each month to your own utility bill.  Those funds are then made available to The Caring Place to help clients pay utility bills in the City of Georgetown.
On the Blog...

Did you know we have a blog on our website?  It includes stories written by staff of people we help and our volunteers.  Sometimes we include ideas and tips, too.  We'd love for you to take a peek once in a while and learn more about what makes The Caring Place a special place.

December's blog entry is about a tiny rock and the many beautiful hearts it represents.  Find it here.
Newsworthy at The Caring Place
