It is with mixed emotions and a tremendous amount of gratitude that we are announcing Tom Hanrahan’s retirement at the end of 2021.
Tom started his career as an insurance adjuster. Because he made the decision to go to law school, Tom ended up with us. But really, he could have been many things and done them just as well: an adjuster, an underwriter, a high school teacher, a photographer, a naturalist. It was just our good fortune that law called to him.
Tom is a founding partner of the firm and has been instrumental in growing many areas of practice at ZTGH. If you worked with him on a file, you know he is a strong advocate and an objective and focused appraiser. He is not only a mentor to our juniors, but also to our partners. “Ask Tom” is a common refrain in our office, and luckily for us Tom might still be willing to take our calls after December 31st.
Unsurprisingly, Tom has a very close knit family and a network of friends that he would like to spend more time with. Tom is also an avid traveler. Sadly for us, we do need to share him with the world and his family a little more.
Our organization has been forever shaped by Tom’s leadership, thoughtfulness, and above all his integrity. It is hard to think of our firm without him, but he is leaving us in an excellent place as we carry his leadership into the future.
Tom, on behalf of the firm, we are forever grateful for you. It has been our honour to work alongside you.
