Hello Glastonbury!
It’s always so exciting to wake up on New Year’s Day, knowing that we have a whole new year’s worth of opportunities ahead of us. For many of us, it’s a chance to start something fresh – set a goal, learn something we didn’t learn last year, or re-set our priorities with intention. At the Library, we’re taking a look at what we offer the community, and how we can do that even better. As a first step, we’re hosting a “Grand Re-Opening” of our 2CF Studio MakerSpace – officially kicking off a new schedule, a new resource, and a new aspect of literacy we can support. In the 2CF Studio, you’ll have access to AutoCad, Adobe Photoshop, and Virtual Reality goggles. You’ll be able to 3-D print, laser cut, and sew. You’ll be able to learn about using AI for your creative projects, learn how to “splice,” and figure out the difference between a CNC Machine and a Bambu. The space it still a work-in-progress, with grant funding and community support helping to build a community resource I think you all will be excited to explore. Sign up for a program, join us at the Re-Opening event (January 11 – see below), or stop by during open 2CF Studio hours to learn more about the space and what you can do there in 2025!
Happy New Year!
Amy
PS- You might have noticed we’ll be closed an extra day in January (Friday, January 24, 2025 - mark your calendars!). Taking another opportunity for growth this year, I've asked the Library staff to spend the day learning and developing as a team. I know you’ll miss the comfortable space, the fantastic resources, and the friendly faces for the day, and I’m grateful for your support. WTML will reopen on Saturday the 25th - well in advance of our Lunar New Year Celebration!
