NDNU to House Afghan Refugees on Campus Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) has announced the launch of a new pilot program to provide transitional housing to up to 36 Afghan refugees on its Belmont, Calif. campus. It is the first university on the West Coast to offer such a program. Refugees are slated to arrive this month. Click here to learn more.

Sister Janet Eisner Honored at Retirement Sister Janet Eisner, SNDdeN is retiring after 43 years as president of Emmanuel College. At Emmanuel's historic 100th commencement ceremony in May, Sister Janet received an honorary degree. A Mass was held in early June to celebrate her and her contributions. Welcome, New Associates! Sisters and Associates of Notre Dame de Namur joined together in Belmont, Calif. on Saturday, June 4 to witness and celebrate the commitment of three new Associates in the U.S. East-West Province and their devotion to the charism and mission of Saint Julie Billiart.  Click here to read more and to see a gallery of photos from the event.

Major Grant for NDEC- Lawrence Notre Dame Education Center – Lawrence (NDEC-L) has been awarded a $250,000 grant by the Cummings Foundation. The funds will support all programs that are not currently state grant-funded, including the Nursing Assistant Program, citizenship classes, and facilities costs. NDEC-L offers English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), computer training, distance learning in English, Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide training and preparation for both the computerized High School Equivalency Test, General Educational Development and the citizenship interview. Notre Dame Hospice Honored for Quality Notre Dame Health Care’s Hospice and Palliative Care Division has been named a 2022 Hospice Honors recipient by HEALTHCAREfirst for providing the highest level of quality care. It was one of just seven recipients in the state, and the only recipient located in central Massachusetts. Click here to learn more about the award.
