November Newsletter

November is all about family and gratefulness: first we have our Fall music recital, then the sold out production of Frozen Jr. will be performed at the Steelworkers' Auditorium, then we take off November 11 to honor those who have fought and those who are fighting everyday to protect our families, then our pre-professional dance company, Evolution, will have their debut performance at the Reflect on Gratitude showcase, and finally we get to celebrate all of the things we are grateful for with our families for Thanksgiving.

We love our performing arts community, from the students that make it worth it, to the teachers who inspire us daily and the parents who work so hard to make sure their children have these opportunities. From the Valverde family to yours, happy November!

Stay tuned to our INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK pages @valverdeschoolpa for some sneak peaks of our upcoming show and our weekly posts that highlight upcoming events and feature our talented students.

Frank Valverde
We found Valverde about 9 months ago. My daughter, 13, has been in gymnastics for 7 years and was looking for something different. We heard about auditions for a musical over the summer. She auditioned and that was it. The experience was AMAZING. The owners of this company are beyond wonderful! I mean seriously down to earth, caring and actually take time to get to know your child. There are hundreds of kids and they truly care for each one! My daughter signed up for some beginning dance classes and just loves all her instructors. I highly recommend Valverde. Even the moms are just awesome and helpful!! We love Valverde!!
Fall Music Recital
We wish all of our musicians performing at the Fall music recital the best of luck. We are so excited to see all the hard work they and their teachers put in to create this showcase of talent for their family and friends.

Audition for Echos Performance Troupe
Are you audition ready?  You will need 16-32 bars of a prepared song.  Sheet music is required.  You may want to schedule a few private voice lessons in preparation of the auditions.  Performers will need to be prepared to go through a jazz audition as well with proper attire, hair, and shoes. If selected, Echos team members will have to be enrolled in Children’s Choir and in a Jazz Class here at VSPA in addition to Echos rehearsal times. Echos will perform 2-3 times within the 6 month commitment.  This will be an excellent training ground for performers interested in expanding their skills.

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other’s lives, as Miss Honey begins not only to recognize but also appreciate Matilda’s extraordinary personality. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!

Packed with high-energy dance numbers, catchy songs and an unforgettable star turn for a young actress, Matilda is a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
