Can you believe that Thanksgiving is just two weeks away? It feels like November just started and "bam" it's time for Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving, the often-forgotten holiday, that comes between national candy day (aka Halloween) and the biggest holiday of the year (aka Christmas). Thanksgiving is such a pleasant holiday, even if it comes up too quickly and is often forgotten about as soon as it is over. It isn't about candy or gifts, but about spending time together and remembering all the things we are thankful for.... family, friends, good food, time to relax, and vacations in Door County!

We are getting to the end of our stock of pumpkin and simmered cider fragrances. These two delightful fragrances are great for fall. They both have hints of different spices which makes a home feel warm and inviting on these colder days. In the pumpkin fragrance we have a few candles, the large diffuser, and the room spray available. In the simmered cider we have a few candles, small diffusers, and refills of the diffuser oil left. We are not expecting these items to last long so make sure you order your favorites today!

In the past we have talked about many of Jim Shore's pieces, from Santas and Snowmen to Disney characters and the Grinch. This newsletter we wanted to share about some sweet little animal characters.
We have three Mini Figurines featuring animals from the forest: a fox, a squirrel, and a chipmunk. These beautiful figurines feature soft colors in the traditional Jim Shore quilt patterns. They have adorable faces that just make us smile. We have had these forest friends up in the fall section, but we think they are so versatile that they could stay out all year long.

A Girlfriend's Three Wise Men
|
|
We have mugs in stock this season, some that are funnier and some that are inspirational. One of our favorites is the Three Wise Men. Of course, this mug is referring to a girlfriend's three wise men: a hairdresser, a jeweler, and a bartender. We think these people may be able to help solve all of your problems or at least make you feel a little better about the days to come! At under $15 it is a great gift!

Towels can make a statement
|
We thought we would continue this newsletter by talking about other merchandise that makes us smile..... our towels. This year, we have outdone ourselves with getting sassy towels to liven-up any kitchen or bathroom. We have enjoyed watching our customers stand by our wall of towels laughing to themselves as they read each one. One of our favorite collections is our gingerbread collection. These towels feature a classic looking gingerbread cookie saying all the things we think about during the holidays. Some of our favorite sayings include: "The Grinch is my Spirit Animal" or "I'm one plum pudding away from a Yuletide meltdown." Towels are an easy way to have a little fun this holiday season and add a little sass to your home.

It is hard to believe that there is less than 2 months left till 2023. It seems like we just got used to writing 2022. With the new year means you need a new calendar. We have gotten in a new shipment of David Wilkinson's 2023 calendar. David is an amazing local photographer, who specializes in taking pictures of all the natural beauty and wonder of Door County. Then he takes his beautiful photographs and puts them in a calendar, so you can enjoy them all year round!

We have always carried a large selection of nativity scenes. While most nativity scenes include Mary, Joseph, Jesus, the wisemen, and maybe some animals and shepherd, our Fontanini nativity set allows you the opportunity to create your own Bethlehem, complete with many of the people mentioned in the bible.
Fontanini (The House of Fontanini) was founded in 1908 in Bagni di Lucca, an Italian village in Tuscany, Italy by Emanuele Fontanini. Four generations later, the House of Fontanini is still a family business run by the five core-family members. The Fontanini family takes pride in creating life-like figures and nativities that take you back to the Biblical Bethlehem story. Each piece produced is historically researched for accuracy in the detail and story of the piece.
Each Fontanini figures begins as a clay sculpture. After the sculpture is created (and approved), the piece is reproduced in polymer. All figures are produced in the Italian factory and are hand painted by an artisan in their home in Italy.

We have them available in five different styles (e.g. cat, corgi, dragon, rabbit, and a sloth).

Tannenbaum Holiday Shop Reading Corner
|
This month we wanted to talk about J.P. Jordan's new book, Numbers Game. At a fundraiser in his honor, Senator Anthony Hecht is invited to a private room by a young, auburn-haired beauty. Minutes later, the politician dies of an apparent heart attack, but when police arrive, they discover the man's forehead has been marked with the number seven. And, his female friend has disappeared.
Detectives Chuck Nowitzke and Anissa Taylor are assigned to investigate the high-profile death. Their inquiry leads to several obscure cases from years prior involving men who died in similar manners. Each with a number on their body, but with no official determination that any of them were murdered.
Puzzled by the circumstances and driven to find a link between the deaths, the detectives must also solve a decades-old missing persons case in what appears to be a growing cover-up by a possible serial killer.
We love reading Jordan's books and find that each one gets better and better. While this book builds on characters from Jordan's last book, you can easily read these books in any order.
