Congratulations to the Graduates of the BIPOC Clinical and Leadership Pathway Program!

The BIPOC Clinical and Leadership Pathway Program is a collaboration between Open Sky and Seven Hills to uplift BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) employees and provide support in career development.

Participants from the two agencies completed 8 weeks of training and mentorship to learn more about advancing in the human services industry. Session topics included team-building, situational leadership, giving and receiving feedback, career visioning, and more.

Thank you to the leaders at Open Sky and Seven Hills who volunteered their time to provide mentorship and participate as guest speakers. Participants of the program shared that the support from their mentors was a key part of the program experience.

Honoring Mental Health Awareness Month in May

Crystal House Clubhouse in Gardner sponsored a Mental Health Awareness Picnic in the Park at Monument Park in Gardner on May 11th.

Attendees enjoyed activities, live music, and had the opportunity to browse community resource tables.

Clubhouse members sold picnic lunches to raise money for the program.

The Green Ribbon Committee - (a sub committee of the Mayor’s Mental Health Task Force working to de-stigmatize mental health) hosted a Hope Day Celebration at the Worcester Senior Center on May 12th.

The tulip garden was planted in October 2022, and members of the Senior Center have worked to nurture and support the garden. The event included peer speakers from Open Sky who shared stories of hope and recovery.

On May 16th, Stephanie Cyr and Mike Pickering represented Open Sky at the May Mental Health Awareness Conversation at the St Francis Xavier Center. Individuals with lived experience in mental health and substance use recovery speakers shared personal stories highlighting hope, strength, and resiliency.

Open Sky and other organizations were present to provide resources.

Happy Pride Month!

Pride Month is a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community in honor of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan.

On June 28, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar, resulting in six days of rioting in resistance of LGBTQIA+ discrimination, police harassment, and exploitation. 54 years later, the LGBTQIA+ continues to fight for their rights and liberation.

Open Sky's Safe Homes program provides services and support for LGBTQIA+ youth and their allies ages 14-23. In addition to weekly drop-in programming and free behavioral health support, Safe Homes has a Transgender Resource Center at the Worcester location. Youth can access gender-affirming supplies, clothing, peer support, and short-term counseling.

We would appreciate your support throughout Pride Month and beyond to keep the TRC stocked with supplies. By donating at the link below, you can help transgender youth have access to critical resources.
