Stories, Songs & Saturday Connections for Ages 0–5

Can’t make it to our weekday programs? Start your weekend with us! Designed with working families and busy schedules in mind, this relaxed Saturday morning program combines a fun, interactive storytime with open social time. We’ll read engaging books, sing songs, and practice movement rhymes, followed by plenty of time for little ones to play and grown-ups to connect.

• Storytime Schedule •

Tuesday 10:30am

Twos & Threes (ages 2 - 3)

A 30-minute, drop-in program for two- and three-year-olds and their caretakers (siblings are welcome). We will read stories and sing songs, and on occasion use manipulatives like shakers or a flannel board.

Wednesday 10:30 am:

Storytime (ages 3 - 5)

Join us for a high energy storytime of songs, stories and fun for ages 3-5. This storytime is a high participatory program for kids and caregivers. There are lots of games, songs, and rhymes mixed into the stories to keep kids moving and engaged.

Thursday 9:30 am:

Baby Laptime (prewalkers)

It’s never too early to foster a love for reading! Join us for a peaceful, interactive storytime created specifically for infants who are not yet walking and their adult caregivers.

Together, we’ll recite joyful rhymes, sing songs, share tickle games, and read cozy books. The program is designed to foster your baby’s phonological awareness, language growth, and vocabulary. Stay after the storytime for open play and a chance to connect with other local caregivers.

Thursday 11 am:

Toddler Time (walkers - 24 months)

Take early literacy to the next step! Designed specifically for toddlers who have traded lap-sitting for walking, this faster paced, interactive program keeps up with your child's growing energy and skills.

Together, toddlers and caregivers will jump, sing, recite playful rhymes, and listen to a short story or two—boosting language development, motor skills, and coordination along the way. Stay after the session for playtime, where toddlers can build social skills and caregivers can connect.

Music Monday

Ages 0 - 5

Mondays

10 am

Come sing along to old favorites and learn some new tunes!

Singing together helps children develop language skills by slowing down words to better hear the individual sounds and introducing vocabulary that might not appear in everyday speech. Many songs will incorporate movement and opportunities to practice listening and following directions with props like shakers or scarves.

We'll repeat the same set of songs for several weeks at a time so everyone has a chance to learn the lyrics that are new to them.

Without music, life would b-flat!

Little Art Lab

Ages 2 - 5

Tuedays

11:15 am

Drop in for an open-ended exploration of different art materials each week. From finger paint to sculpting dough, let your child lead their own discovery of what happens when they manipulate their world. It's about the process, not the product!

Be prepared; things might get messy, but we will have smocks available when they do.

Preschool Dance Party

Ages 2 - 5

Wednesdays

9:30 am

**NOTE NEW TIME**

Come dance with us!

This high energy program fosters key early literacy skills including phonological awareness, memory, and sequencing skills, as well as promoting motor skill development—all while having lots of fun and moving our bodies.

We begin with "follow the leader" songs followed by several free dances and end with a few dances with props (such as shaker eggs, ribbon dancers, or the rare appearance of bubbles!). Music is a mix of upbeat and energetic kid-friendly songs that varies the pace throughout the program.

Grown-ups are expected to participate and dance too.

Are You On the Road to Reading?

On the Road to Reading is an early literacy program designed to encourage parents and caregivers to read 1,000 books to their child before they start kindergarten to help develop important early literacy skills and develop a lifelong love of reading and books! Broken into 100 book milestones, the Library will celebrate your child’s reading achievements as you move along the Road to Reading!

Books We Recommend

Don't forget to check out the booklists on our Recommendations page!

Alicia Recommends:

The Bear Fairy by Paul Coccia

The Bear Fairy by Paul Coccia starts off with Spencer, being very excited to finally catch his very own fairy! The only thing is, the bear fairy is a little different from what his friend thinks a fairy should be. The Bear Fairy is a terrible houseguest, only wants to eat chips, snores, and takes way too much time getting ready in the morning. Spencer’s friends keep pointing out how his fairy is not a good fairy. Spencer eventually realizes he’s actually having fun with his new fairy friend and he doesn’t care what his friends think anyway. This book is colorful, playful, and hilarious!

Eunice Recommends:

Penelope Positano Sees It All by Katie Cotugno

When Penelope’s parents announce that they will be getting her a dog, Penelope isn’t sure she’ll be able to find the perfect one. Fortunately, Penelope, who wears an eye patch to help strengthen her eye muscles, can see things that nobody notices. Like her friend’s lost keychain or her sister having a bad day. Can she trust her powers of perception and make the right choice? Featuring fun full color illustrations, this new early chapter book series is sure to entertain.
