Brooks Bridge Aesthetic Workshop
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to participate in a bridge aesthetic workshop regarding the Brooks Bridge. 

The workshop provides an opportunity for the public to help FDOT’s bridge architect develop aesthetic guidelines for the project that consider community preferences. Participants will be able to identify what makes the Brooks Bridge unique to the community, provide input regarding preferences on basic shapes and features, identify items of importance to the community that should be considered in the bridge aesthetic design, and provide comments

19 Addy Awards
For the eleventh consecutive year, the magic at Bit-Wizards shone bright at the 2020 ADDY Awards. Each year, the American Advertising Federation (AAF) hosts a three-tiered national competition that begins at a regional level.

Each year, submissions include both internal marketing projects, external client campaigns, and pro-bono projects.

This year, their team proudly brought home a total of 19 awards, including five Gold ADDYs, eleven Silver ADDYs, and all three Judge’s Choice Awards.

Woman of the Year is a long-standing tradition in ABWA to recognize a member that has made a notable contribution to the success of her chapter, her business, and her community. 

Dawn Novy has served as President of the Emerald Coast Chapter for 2019-2020 and 2020-2021; the Women Empowering Women Symposium Committee Chair for 2019 and 2020, and Member-At-Large (2018-2019) in the Chapter. Deputy of the Year
Brandon Mundt
Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office announces nine-year law enforcement veteran Brandon Mundt has been named Deputy of the Year.

Deputy Mundt is a field training officer. In 2020, he trained nine newly hired deputies for a total of 1,164 hours - which accounts for more than 50% of the hours he worked throughout the year. He and his trainees accounted for 2,173 calls for service, 223 offense reports, and 108 arrests. READ MORE...
Natural Gas Utility Worker of the Year: Darron Adams

On March 18th Okaloosa Gas celebrated National Natural Gas Utility Worker day and announced the District’s “Natural Gas Utility Worker of the Year: Darron Adams."

Natural Gas Utility Workers' Day, was created to honor natural gas utility workers around the country. The decision to hold this day on March 18 was made by APGA members. March 18 is the date of the New London, Texas school explosion in 1937 that led to the widespread odorization of natural gas and an increased emphasis on safety.

Safety is a vital aspect to natural gas distribution and the employees of distribution companies endeavor to make natural gas delivery as safe as possible.
Latitude Margaritaville Watersound Builder Receives Awards

Minto Communities builder of Latitude Margaritaville Watersound announced they have received eight 2021 Eliant Homebuyers' Choice Awards. Eliant Homebuyers’ Choice Awards are presented each year to home builders judged by their own home buyers to have provided the best customer experience.
Winning home builders were selected based on results from 170,000 surveys administered by Eliant to all recent homeowners of more than 185 major home builders throughout the United States. READ MORE...

City of Fort Walton Beach News
Diversity Training Partnership

On March 24, 2021, the City of Fort Walton Beach will wrap up a diversity training program for its staff totaling more than 300 members. The City partnered with Reverend Cecil Williams, director of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office (DEI) at Eglin Air Force Base to provide the training as part of an annual staff training program that began in January 2021. Most staff trainings cover internal operations; however, some outside partnerships like the one with DEI are also being used. READ MORE...
Strategic Planning Workshop
The City Council will hold a strategic planning session on March 30, 2021, at 8:30 a.m. in the City Hall Annex Training Room. The purpose of the meeting is to review the current strategic plan, discuss progress made and set goals for the coming year. The public is invited to attend. Did you know the City of FWB has 31 parks and recreation facilities located throughout the community? We would love for you to become familiar with these spaces. Message from Mayor Rynearson
I would like to congratulate Council Members Nic Allegretto and David Schmidt on their re-election and Travis Smith on his election to the Fort Walton Beach City Council. I would also like to express my gratitude to all the candidates who took the time to run for office. It is great to see so much interest in our local government. We will hold a swearing-in ceremony for these three Council Members on April 1, at 1 p.m. at City Hall. We will also recognize and honor outgoing (termed out) Council Member Amy Jamieson for her service to the community. The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed live at www.fwb.org/live
