Local artist Wayne Baize to exhibit at library March 19-30

The beautiful art of Wayne Baize, featuring local landscapes with cattle, horses, and cowboys will be on display at the Jeff Davis County Library March 19 through 30.

An artist's reception will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, March 21. This free program will offer an opportunity to meet Wayne Baize and talk about his art. Light refreshments will be served.

The exhibit will be available for viewing during normal library hours, 10 am to 6 pm weekdays and 10 am to 2 pm Saturdays during its run.
Library volunteer worker training to be held in coming weeks

The Friends of the Jeff Davis County Library is actively recruiting volunteers to help work in the library doing various tasks, including working the front desk, assisting tourists, and performing other tasks as needed.

Volunteers must complete a training session and one will be held soon. If you are interested, please let the library staff know or email fjdclibrary@gmail.com

Membership in FJDCL benefits the Jeff Davis County Library in Fort Davis, as well as the library in Valentine, in many ways. And members get included in fun and interesting events.

Dues are $25 per person each year.

Hank the Cowdog author to visit Fort Davis May 8
Hank the Cowdog is the creation of Texas author John R. Erickson, who will visit here May 8 in a program involving all county elementary students.
John R. Erickson , author of Hank the Cowdog will entertain Fort Davis and Valentine students on May 8 at Dirks-Anderson School in Fort Davis.  Mr. Erickson will sing and read aloud from the books for a one hour program.

The performance for the public   will be held at the Kelly Pavilion that evening, time to be announced.
