Happy Feast Day of St. Guido M. Conforti! | This special issue of the USA Xaverian Missionaries e-newsletter is being sent out on Sunday, Nov. 5, to wish everyone a very Happy Feast Day of our Founder.
On October 23, 2011, St. Guido Maria Conforti was canonized as a missionary saint of the Church. His feast, celebrated worldwide, is November 5th. As founder of the Xaverian Missionaries, who serve in twenty-one countries worldwide, both his life of holiness and missionary vision are experienced in his legacy left to the Church. Many Xaverian Missionaries, priests, brothers, sisters, and laity all over the world are the expressions of that enduring legacy as we respond to the many challenges of mission in different parts of the world.
Join us in this celebration of a missionary life by acquainting yourself with his life and love for witnessing our faith across many faiths and cultures. Here are some resources you may find helpful

Dear Mission Friends:
“Gratitude therefore takes nothing for granted,
Is never unresponsive,
Is constantly awakening to new wonder
and to praise of the goodness of God.”
~Thomas Merton
On “Thanksgiving Day” we pause as a Nation to give thanks to God for
all of our blessings and our bounty. This world dishes out plenty of things that can weigh us down so we believe it’s essential to carve out intentional time to focus on the good gifts we have been given and to cultivate gratitude together...

Christmas at Fatima Shrine
The annual Christmas “Festival of Lights” will once again light up winter nights from December 7 to December 27. There will be a Christmas Concert featuring St. Cecilia’s Choir, on December 17 at 3 PM.
In 2022, the United Nations declared that November 18 would be recognized as the World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence. Following discussions with members of the Boston Survivor Advisory Council and others, Cardinal Sean O'Malley of Boston is asking that all parishes and collaboratives mark the weekend of November 18 and 19, 2023 as a time to pray at all Masses for those impacted by child abuse and to publicly reaffirm our commitment to remain vigilant in our efforts to keep all children safe. The Xaverian Missionaries are marking the event with a special one-man play by Michael Mack. Join us.

Honey and honeycomb from the Fatima Bee Project this year!
The calamity of the Israel - Hamas war, as in any war, the useless loss of lives, especially of so many children, screams for healing and peace. Incidences of antisemitism and islamophobia in our country, although always present, have increased in frequency because of the war. It is at this time especially we seek ways to share our grief, hope, and prayers with one another of all faiths. Some of our interfaith opportunities in the month of November allow that opportunity. Join us!

Letter of a Pastor of a Catholic Community in Palestine during the Israeli-Hamas War
Fr. Issa Hijazeen, pastor of Our Lady of Fatima of Beit Sahour in Palestine writes to their sister parish in Holliston, Massachusetts, St. Mary’s Church. For peace in the Holy Land. For the safe return of hostages; the protection of civilians; and for an end to all violence in Israel and Palestine. For respect and protection of every human life without discrimination. For peace – again we pray for peace.
Dear Father Mark, Dear Brothers and Sisters in Saint Mary’s Parish,
...Our people in the Holy Land need your prayers because real peace comes from God, not from this world. Peace will be possible when every people have their rights. Otherwise, things will remain the same from one war to another. So, we pray for Love, Peace, fraternity, and Justice.
People here, from both the Israeli and Palestinian sides, are afraid. Many of them want the war to end. Many of them want Peace, and it is possible. They can live together. War is not the solution! The solution begins first when the war stops; when every prisoner and hostage from both sides will be returned safely to his family; and when every person gets their legitimate rights...

Thanksgiving
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything thy goodness sends.
