Happy Summer, Warriors!

Hello Woodlynde,

Happy Summer! Last week at Woodlynde we kicked off our Summer Camp program. It's hard to believe we've come to the close of another school year and the next one is on the horizon. But that means that we're one step closer to the start of your child's Woodlynde journey!

In my last email, I introduced you to our Division Heads, shared our at-a-glance calendar, talked about dress code, and highlighted our summer camp. If you'd like to look back at any of that information, you can find it here.

Today I’ll cover the following topics:

  • Parent Resource Board
  • Popsicles on the Playground
  • Literacy Center Reading Screening
  • School Lunch Contracts
  • Woodlynde Athletics

Parent Resource Board

As an enrolled family, you now have access to Woodlynde's parent portal! You will log in using the same credentials that you used throughout the admissions process. Go to woodlynde.org and click the "login" button in the upper right hand corner.

Here you can access academic information about your student, the live school calendar, and the parent resource board!

I encourage you visit the "Resource" tab and explore some of the resource links available to you: links to our uniform providers, forms for reporting planned absence or early dismissal, and access to your tuition management account.

If you need help with your log in credentials, contact Pam Lasco at [email protected].

A note about Magnus and Health Forms- on the parent resource board, you can also find the link to Magnus, the student health information system Woodlynde uses. Our school nurse, Dorinda Shank, will be reaching out soon with more information for forms to be completed by new families on Magnus.

Introduction to the Literacy Institute

Kristin McMurrer

Assistant Director of the Literacy Institute

Penny Moldofsky

Director of the Literacy Institute

Structured literacy is a cornerstone of Woodlynde's commitment to excellence in education for students with learning differences. In order to place your student appropriately, our Wilson team will be reaching out over the summer to schedule a screener. This assessment can take place via Zoom or in-person at Woodlynde, and will take about 45 minutes or less. Look out for an email from Penny Moldofsky and Kristin McMurrer in the coming weeks!

Lunch Contracts

Woodlynde offers an optional daily lunch program for students who would like to enjoy a fresh and nutritious meal prepared by our top-notch culinary team!

The kitchen features a wide range of options- freshly stocked salad bar with homemade chicken and tuna salads and sandwich fixings. Two house-made soup selections. Hot and cold entrees with a range of vegetables and sides from which to choose. Fresh fruit and desserts. Even the pickiest of eaters can find something they love (and maybe even something they're willing to try)!

There are also plenty of students who prefer to pack a lunch from home to enjoy.

For your convenience, lunch contracts for the first semester of the 2023-24 school year are now available for purchase at woodlynde.ws/lunch.

There are two options: the full lunch contract is for students who want to eat school lunch daily. The "Pizza Friday" contract is for students who want to eat school pizza lunch every Friday, and pack a lunch from home Monday-Thursday.

Woodlynde Athletics

Woodlynde offers a variety of competitive and club sports to students. All of these opportunities are "no-cut", meaning we welcome all students to try a sport, even if they are new to the game!

Our Director of Athletics, Gabriel Robison, has some information to share with you about our upcoming athletic season. See the links below to read his message to families!

Save the Date: Wednesday, August 30, 2023 5:00-7:00 pm

Woodlynde Athletics Parent/Guardian Orientation

On the evening of Wednesday, August 30th we will hold a mandatory Woodlynde Athletics Parent/Guardian Orientation in the Schmader Student Commons from 5:00-7:00PM. We have partnered with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to help develop and grow our program. A representative from PCA will be presenting a session titled “Developing Winners in Life Through Sport,” followed by a presentation by AD Robison and AT Pfautz covering important information regarding athletics for the upcoming school year. This meeting is for parents of all students participating in athletics, not just fall athletes.
