Happy Summer!  I hope you are well and have had a successful first two quarters.  We are happy to report some exciting news regarding the success of our clients, new additions, search assignments, and developments. 

 

  • Our team is growing!  We have added three new members of our team - Nicole Rose as Executive Assistant and Project Coordinator, and Sean Cox as Principal, both based in our Raleigh office, and Hillary Dietz a Principal based in Philadephia, PA.    
  • International Searches - We have just launched a new search in Hong Kong for a fast growing services client, and another search in London/NY for a big data analytics software client.    
  • Strategic Partnerships - We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with two reputable, retained search firms, The Koblentz Group, headquartered in Atlanta, GA and Conway & Greenwood based in Raleigh, NC to provide our clients with additional resources for search in niche markets to include financial services/mortgage banking, international reach, and additional corporate board of director's search and assessment.    
  • Market - We are seeing an uptick in requests for executive searches in the first half of the year and see no signs of slowing.  We see a lot of demand in the areas of big data/analytics, mobility, business process outsourcing, and sales/marketing.  
  • Boardroom Prep - We hosted another successful Board of Director's Education Seminar with participants attending from around the Country.  We will be hosting our next workshop this Fall - stay tuned. 
  • Roundtable Series - We are launching a new Roundtable series for senior executives to focus on topics such as executive compensation, Board of Director's questions to ask, Finding talent in unique places, etc.   
  • Sponsorships - We recently sponsored the State of Technology Conference hosted by the North Carolina Technology Association, as well as a Newport Board conference!

Goodwin Search held another successful Boardroom Prep workshop at Carolina Country Club in Raleigh, NC.  Attendees came from across the US, and the evaluations from the program were exceptional.

A recent article in Corporate Board Member magazine asked the question, "Does your board deliver strategic advantage?"  That's an interesting question all CEO's should ask themselves. But, just how can a board of directors specifically deliver a strategic advantage, often characterized as a company having a unique strategically important asset or capabilities?  The National Association of Corporate Directors has noted that a board of directors properly comprised, diligent and effective in its oversight, and possessing diverse sources of information can indeed be a "strategic asset board".    Among the various characteristics of the "strategic asset board" are that it thoroughly knows and understands the company's business and competitors, and provides a significant level of "intellectual capital".
