Helping Our Community Since 1985

Focusing on Literacy, Scholarships & Community Needs

Dear Friends of Assistance League of Inland North County,

As we close out a remarkable fiscal year, I’m filled with deep gratitude and pride for all we’ve accomplished—because of you.

Thanks to your generous support, belief in our mission, and shared commitment to our

community, this has been a year of exceptional growth and impact. Because of you,

lives were touched, families were supported, and thousands in our community felt the

care and compassion behind everything we do.

Please click to see our Annual Report, but below are just a few highlights:

  • Donations and grants increased by 21%
  • Thrift shop income, which supplies the majority of our revenue, increased;

as a result, we increased funding to our programs, allowing us to serve more

individuals in need

  • We welcomed 28 new members and community volunteers, and our Assisteens® Auxiliary welcomed 6 new members
  • We celebrated 40 years of community impact with a joyful open house and

fundraiser that both honored our legacy and laid the groundwork for a bright

future

  • Most importantly, over 20,600 individuals in our community were served, thanks

to the incredible contribution of our volunteers, who dedicated more than 29,500

volunteer hours last fiscal year

These numbers tell a powerful story, but they only begin to capture the heart behind our

mission. Whether you gave time, made a financial contribution, donated items to our

thrift shop, or simply cheered us on—you made an impact. Because of you, children

had clothes for school, seniors felt less isolated, unhoused graduating seniors had

access to basic needs, college students in need received scholarships, and hope was

restored in countless ways.

As we begin this new fiscal year, we’re excited to continue building on this momentum

with a dedicated and passionate team at the helm. I’m proud to introduce our 2025

Board of Directors, who will lead us forward with vision, compassion, and a deep

commitment to our mission:

OPERATION SCHOOL BELL

Because of You we have been able to continue one of our most favorite programs. Operation School Bell (OSB) provides new clothing for children in grades TK - 12th in cooperation with Assisteens, Rotary Club, and JCPenney store employees.

Twice a year, families and their children are invited to shop for clothing at a designated time and place. They are given an amount of money to spend, and oh, what fun they have picking out new clothes and shoes! The excitement on their faces is so rewarding. I think our ALINC volunteers have as much fun as the kids and families. Everyone agrees that Co-chairmen Marolyn Miglin and Linda Schafer have done a GREAT job with this very rewarding program.

STREET FAIR

Did you see our booth at the Escondido Street Festival on Grand Ave? No! Well watch for us on Sunday, October 19, 2025 (10am–6pm). ALINC and our Assisteens® will participate, showcasing our programs and community involvement. Our volunteers will be giving away free children’s books, brochures outlining our programs, as well as our very popular “Spin the Wheel” game for children's prizes. We’d love to see you there!

THRIFT SHOP

Do your kids need new clothes for school? You won’t find better prices than at our thrift store. Bring in your gently worn clothing and get new gently worn clothing at the lowest price in town. ASSISTEENS

Assisteens® is an auxiliary branch of Assistance League® providing volunteer and leadership opportunities to teens in grades 6 through 12. The ALINC group had a very busy year!

Along with keeping up with their schoolwork, they donated 423 volunteer hours to the following projects:

  • Provided 50 sack lunches and hygiene kits for the homeless at Interfaith
  • Worked in the Thrift Shop on Saturdays
  • Prepared 50 holiday bags for senior citizens at Windsor Gardens, plus a Valentine's Day Party
  • Donated school supplies for 50 HeadStart students
  • Collected food at Thanksgiving and adopted a family of 4 for Christmas with Interfaith
  • Served as ambassadors for the Walk for Animals with Humane Society
  • Conducted a Cultural Fair where members shared items from their backgrounds.

These young people are from several schools including Orange Glen High; Escondido High; Hidden Valley Middle School and Classical Charter High School. All of these activities were accomplished under the expert guidance of adult co-chairs. We look forward to seeing these young people in action in the Fall.
