Susan sent in photos of her stunning sunflower cards. They certainly brightened my day!

Happy Sunday, Shreya!

Can you believe that it is already autumn? Summer has flown by so quickly. Before leaves start falling and we start bundling up, lets' take a look at all that we have achieved.

Since June 20th, Letters Against Isolation has written 50,000 letters and cards! We have brought smiles to 20,000 seniors in six countries. We have also incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Since opening our donations page last weekend, we have raised $1700! This will allow us to continue operating for the next few months and put a dent in our legal fees from incorporating. We are so grateful for the incredible Letters Against Isolation community for writing, donating, and supporting us at such an exciting time!

LAI In Person Meet Up!

Some of you may have met Cindy from the LAI Pinehills Chapter last Sunday. For those of you who did not, she runs an amazing group where she collects and mails letters from people in her Plymouth, MA community!

She is organizing a volunteer appreciation event and meetup on Sunday, October 2nd from 1-3:00 at the Stonebridge Club in Plymouth, MA. If you live nearby, please consider attending!

Ellen's Updates

Greetings volunteers and hope you are enjoying the beginning of the autumn season.  A few items of interest:

~ We have many new volunteers from countries around the globe who are concerned that it will take a long time for their letters to reach our seniors. We understand that you have no control over the postal system and that delays are quite common during the pandemic. Know that whenever your correspondence arrives, it will be appreciated and it's especially exciting for our seniors to receive a thoughtful letter from a far-away land!

~ A spreadsheet challenge: if you are planning to write to seniors in the US this cycle...SCROLL DOWN! States at the top of our alphabetic list are always full but states towards the middle and bottom of the sign-up page seem to be neglected. This cycle, let's all focus on sharing some joy with the seniors who reside in facilities in the states toward the middle and bottom of the spreadsheet!

~ Finally, a BIG birthday announcement: Mary C. is turning 95 years young on October 18th! Please sign up on our Canada page to send her congratulations, good wishes, and love. Mary's address has been provided by her daughter Colleen B., a very active long-time LAI volunteer.

Feel free to get in touch with any questions, interesting ideas or just to say hi: lai.volunteer.rep@gmail.com

THANK YOU for being a part of the LAI community!
