What is Giving Tuesday?

Often stylized as #GivingTuesday for the purposes of hashtag activism, it is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It is a "global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world". The organization of the same name is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports the global movement.

GivingTuesday was initiated in 2012 by Henry Timms at the 92nd Street Y in New York. The co-founding organization was the United Nations Foundation, with support from BLK SHP (Black Sheep).

^{How much money has Giving Tuesday raised?}

Giving Tuesday raised $28 million in 2013, and the amount has increased every year. In 2021, Giving Tuesday raised $2.7 billion in the U.S. alone!

GivingTuesday has received support from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Craig Newmark Philanthropies, Emerson Collective, Fidelity Charitable, the Ford Foundation, the Ford Motor Company, PayPal, and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

It's Easy! Sign up for Roundup and Amazon Smile

Here are two easy ways to help AAHPO every time you shop:

1.Roundup App

Roundup allows you to effortlessly donate to AAHPO by "rounding up" your credit card purchases to the nearest dollar, then sending those modest donations directly to AAHPO.

The process is simple. First, go to the app store on your smartphone, and download the Roundup App for free. Once inside the Roundup App, you simply choose AAHPO (Armenian American Healthcare Professionals Organization) as your nonprofit. Then link a credit or debit card and select a monthly minimum goal.

It's great! You are only being asked to donate your spare change. For most of us, it’s much easier to say “yes” to parting with nickels and dimes, than to a set amount of money. But for the vulnerable Armenians helped by AAHPO, those nickels and dimes add up to healthcare education and assistance!

2.AmazonSmile

This is a simple way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop at Amazon, at no cost to you. When you designate AAHPO as your charity, Amazon will donate .05% of what you spend directly to AAHPO. This donation is at no cost to you.
