Dear Barrington 220 Community,
As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving this week with family and friends, we have a lot to be grateful for in Barrington 220.
Thanks to our community’s recent support of a $64M referendum, over the next few years our district will be able to continue to improve safety and security across all of our buildings, build a new community auditorium at BHS, and enhance STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) and instructional spaces for students. The new educational spaces will provide learning opportunities that will better prepare our students for life beyond Barrington High School.
Just last week, our Board of Education agreed to follow the district's recommendation to continue working with DLA Architects and Pepper Construction. This would allow the district to break ground on some of the smaller construction projects in 2025 by taking advantage of this summer's construction window. The next step is for a detailed construction timeline to be established and shared with our school community.
In addition to a successful referendum, I am also grateful for the amazing work being done as part of our strategic plan, Framework 220. We have already accomplished so much, including implementing free full-day kindergarten at all of our elementary schools at the start of this school year, launching our innovative Kindergarten Lab Program at BHS, and implementing our fully integrated pre-K through 12+ social-emotional learning program called Character Strong. I am excited to continue the great work this year, as we take a deep dive into our Social Media Awareness & Digital Citizenship objective. We recently created an advisory committee for this objective that includes representation from all of our stakeholders, and I look forward to seeing how we can work together to create the best possible academic and social-emotional learning environments for our students.
Thank you for your continued partnership. I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving this week!
