Hello Stephanie,

I hope you and your family are well. As Thanksgiving approaches, I am especially thankful for all our service members who dedicate themselves to protecting our nation. I am overjoyed to share that my son, who is currently serving in the Navy, has been granted leave and will be home for the holidays. Having him at the dinner table this year is a blessing, and I remain deeply proud of his service to our country. This Thanksgiving, let us take a moment to thank a service member or Veteran for their sacrifices, which allow us to enjoy the freedoms we hold dear.

I also want to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to our Veterans Day Card Drive. Thanks to the efforts of our community, including many hard-working students, we collected hundreds of handwritten cards. This incredible generosity ensured that Veterans in Illinois’ Veteran Homes received a heartfelt message of appreciation.

Lastly, I am truly grateful to serve as your State Representative. Representing the residents of the 84th District is a privilege I deeply cherish. I will continue working hard to advocate for Veterans, Senior Citizens, Youth, and individuals with disabilities to promote policies that benefit all of us.

While I was excited to see our first snowfall of this winter last week, I also know that there are many of those who do not have heat. This winter, please make sure you are checking up on your neighbors, friends, and seniors to ensure they have access to heat. As the weather continues to drop here are some resources to stay warm:

• LIHEAP: provides a one-time benefit to eligible households to be used for energy bills. The amount of payment is determined by income, household size, fuel type, and geographic location.

• Aurora Warming Centers

• Oswego/Montgomery Warming Centers and Locations

• Naperville Warming Centers, Winter Tips, and Preparation
