One of our congregation's greatest strengths is that we gather around one mission—to know Christ and to boldly make Him known—while offering many ways to worship, learn, share, and serve one another and our community. As Emmanuel continues to grow and reach new neighbors, we are responding to God’s call to offer worship opportunities that meet people where they are in life and faith.
Beginning Sunday, November 30, we will introduce a new 10:45am Service of Holy Communion.
This service shares the same Gospel-centered heart as all worship at Emmanuel, but with an alternative musical and worship style.
The 10:45am service will be casual, joyful, and musically vibrant. Worship will follow the Lutheran pattern of Gathering, Word, Meal, and Sending, with leadership from our praise band, more modern Christian songs, and a warm, conversational tone that is especially welcoming to those newer to the Christian faith and worship itself.
Nothing essential changes—God’s Word is proclaimed, Christ is present in the Lord's Supper, and we are Sent by the Holy Spirit to serve our neighbors. What changes is the atmosphere and musical style, creating a setting of accessibility for those who may find historic liturgy unfamiliar or uncomfortable.
The Saturday 5:00pm and Sunday 8:30am services remain the Lutheran liturgy of our roots, supported by the classical hymnody, organ, choir, bells, and more. The new service is not a replacement, but a complement to worship in our congregation—helping to extend God's mission and welcome more neighbors into the life of Emmanuel.
We are offering this service for a simple reason: the Gospel calls us to open our doors wider. By offering a litany of worship options, we help more people encounter Jesus and grow in faith.
Thank you to our musicians, staff, and the nearly 50 volunteers who make worship possible each weekend. And thank you to the congregation for your faithfulness, flexibility, and openness to how God continues to lead Emmanuel.
Whether you attend the Saturday 5:00pm, Sunday 8:30am, or Sunday 10:45am service, we are united in one mission of God and one hope in Jesus Christ. Join us for this first weekend of Advent and a new church year, as we begin the next chapter of Emmanuel's mission to know Christ and to boldly make Him known.
