Care Day at Trinity Community Ministries
Over 30 volunteers completed extensive painting work at Trinity Community Ministries in downtown Atlanta as part of a HomeAid Care Day on November 5. Volunteers spent the day transforming portions of the three-story facility with a much-needed fresh coat of paint.

Volunteers from these organizations, as well as some community members, donated their time and expertise for the HomeAid Care Day at Trinity Community Ministries:
  • Meritage Homes
  • Evans General Contractors
  • Mortgage Bankers Association of Georgia (MBAG)
  • National Association of Home Builders Kennesaw State University Student Chapter (KSU NAHB)
  • McMichael and Gray, PC
  • Lambda Theta Phi Fraternity of KSU
  • Greater Atlanta Home Builder Association’s (GAHBA) Young Professionals Group
  • GAHBA staff

Northwest Exterminating provided lunch for the event. Evans General Contractors generously donated 50 gallons of paint. In addition to the Care Day painting work, Arborguard Tree Specialists provided tree removal and tree trimming services to clean up the grounds. After the Care Day, Community Associations Institute Georgia Chapter (CAI) members Russell Landscaping and Outdoor Solutions Group made major improvements to Trinity’s outdoor space.
Thanks for Giving!
The Young Professionals Group of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (YP Group) recently partnered with HomeAid Atlanta for the 2nd Annual Thanks for Giving Drive, a fundraising drive to provide Thanksgiving food items for families transitioning out of homelessness.

This year, thanks to your generous donations, YP Group volunteers packed 16 food baskets for families at HomeStretch an organization that guides working homeless families toward permanent housing and lasting stability.

Volunteers filled the Thanksgiving baskets with canned yams, cranberry sauce, corn, green beans, cookie and brownie mixes, brown sugar, marshmallows, corn bread mix, scalloped potato mix, plus a $50 Kroger gift card and a handwritten note. We delivered the baskets to HomeStretch on Thursday, November 18. Thank you to all Thanks for Giving donors and volunteers!

Giving Tuesday is November 30
Giving Tuesday, November 30, is a global day of giving and generosity. It was established in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good.

Last year generous HomeAid Atlanta donors raised over $1,000 on Giving Tuesday. This year, will you consider joining the movement with a one-time $20 tax-deductible donation to HomeAid Atlanta?

HomeAid CareKits

On November 12, volunteers from Ashton Woods Homes and Mortgage Bankers Association of Georgia (MBAG) packed 1,000 HomeAid CareKits.. The CareKits were delivered to Crossroads Community Ministries where they are currently being distributed to people living on the streets. CareKits provide a little dignity and sustenance to those in need. Thanks to Bank of America for providing the funds to purchase the items, as well as to Stanley Martin Homes for their generous contribution of hundreds of pairs of socks and underwear (see below). We are truly thankful for your generosity and for all the help in assembling each kit.
Stanley Martin Homes Delivers Dignity

Stanley Martin Homes Atlanta Division has pledged funds raised from an employee furniture auction to HomeAid Atlanta. The September model home furniture auction raised over $3,500 in support of HomeAid Atlanta’s mission.

A portion of the funds raised has already already been used to purchase socks and underwear in support of HomeAid Atlanta’s outreach efforts. On November 12, HomeAid volunteers packed 1,000 CareKits for Crossroads Community Ministries (CCM), an organization that provides a variety of services for people experiencing homelessness. The CareKits included the donated socks, and CCM will distribute the underwear to clients in need. The socks and underwear donations provided by Stanley Martin Homes are essential items that families and individuals living on the streets or in homeless shelters rarely have, but desperately need. Along with HomeAid CareKits, socks and underwear help provide comfort and dignity to those struggling most.

Additional funds went in support of the Thanks for Giving Drive, and the remaining funds will be applied to HomeAid Atlanta’s area of greatest need.
