SBISD 2nd Grade Field Trip to the Museum

We have started our 2nd grade field trips to the museum.

Every 2nd grader in the district will have the opportunity to visit the museum for a field trip all about sculpture!

While here, the students will participate in a variety of activities. We will begin the field trip with a whole group discussion about sculpture. They will then split into 4 smaller groups and rotate through 4 stations. The stations consist of:

  1. paper vase project
  2. sculpture video with word search
  3. scavenger hunt in the gallery
  4. team building excercise- build a collaborative sculpture that follows specific criteria.

So far, we have seen the 2nd graders from:

Buffalo Creek

Bunker Hill

Cedarbrook

Frostwood

Hollibrook

We look forward to seeing the rest throughout the year!

Kindergarten Road Show

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

We have started our Kindergarten road shows!

We are going out to visit all of SBISD kindergarten classes. While at each school, we are reading the story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

After reading, we talk about symmetry and each student works to create a symmetrical butterfly.

We also teach the students how to correctly hold scissors and we talk about geometric shapes.

So much learning in a fun reading and art activty!

We have visited the kindergarteners at:

Memorial Drive

Rummel Creek

Treasure Forest

We look forward to visiting the rest of SBISD Kindergarteners throughout the rest of the school year.

1st Grade Road Show

Dream Carver

We are visiting all of our district elementary schools and meeting with 1st grade. While at each school, we are reading the book Dream Carver by Diana Cohn.
