2023 Golf Tournament

A HUGE thank you to ALL who made this year’s Matt Garcia Annual Charity Golf Tournament a tremendous success - from the golfers, to each and every one of our generous sponsors and all of the awesome volunteers! It was a perfect morning out at the beautiful Rancho Solano Golf Course, beginning with Lenny Williams from “Tower of Power” singing the National Anthem, followed by a day of golfing, eating, drinking, and fun.

The day culminated with a lovely dinner banquet where Lesley Snedeker DePorto and Joey Ramirez were remembered and honored, along with a silent and a live auction and raffle prize winners being announced. Throughout this amazing day, we could definitely feel Matt’s inspirational spirit with us.

With your help, we were able to not only meet but EXCEED our monetary goal! These funds will be used to provide scholarships to underprivileged youth, as well as support many of our other community events and worthwhile causes. THANK YOU AGAIN TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!

Message from Newly Appointed

Vice President Andy Ramirez

One of the beautiful things about living in Fairfield is Matt Garcia saw what our city could be and started working towards it. What does our city look like through Matt’s eyes? And how can we make that dream of his come true?

It starts with something simple. Something as simple as picking up a piece of trash. By doing this, we are saying thank you for giving us a city where even the homeless and careless have more than enough to eat. We are living in gratitude.

How can we work towards Matt’s dream of supporting our youth? It’s easy. We encourage them to work hard at their goals, and we invest in their education. We encourage them to ask for help on the hard days and remind them that there is always someone there to help.

Imagine what Fairfield would look like if all our kids knew there was a group of people working for their future. Know that the Matt Garcia foundation is this group of people. I think Matt was right when he said, “This is the place to be!”

Our students have hopes and dreams. We’re showing them the ways and fundraising the means.

Andy Ramirez, Vice President

Child Safety and Prevention Month

rainbow-school-children.jpg

November is Child Safety and Prevention Month. Although child safety should be a daily goal, the month of November is reserved as a month to highlight child safety. Here are some helpful tips to remember:

  1. Install and use safety gates where appropriate to keep children out of unsafe areas, such as swimming pools
  2. Keep matches away from kids
  3. Install outlet covers and cabinet door child safety locks in homes with small children
  4. Be cautious of choking hazards
  5. Set home water heaters to a safe temperature and always test the water before a child’s bath time

Tips for Driving Safely in the Fall

Every year thousands of people are injured, and hundreds of people are killed due to daylight savings time changes and the change of seasons.

Autumn means we need to be more careful as drivers.

WEATHER

Sudden changes in temperature, rain, snow and fog all make for hazardous driving. Be aware of the weather - know before you go.

SUNRISE & SUNSET

Daylight Savings Time means the sun on the morning drive might be right in your eyes. The sun goes down early now, so it gets dark a lot sooner! HEADLIGHTS.

CHILDREN & ANIMALS

Children are back to school and animals are busy preparing for winter. Look out for them. Slow down, keep an eye out, and be nice.

LEAVES

Leaves on the ground can be slippery and dangerous. Careful when driving on leaf-covered roads, whether it's raining or not. Clear leaves off your car before driving, just like snow.

Be The Change!

It's Turkey Time!
