As we gather together with loved ones to celebrate this season of Thanksgiving, we at VMLC offer our gratitude and support to our students. It is their dedication to Changing Lives Through Literacy that inspires and motivates us every day. This past week, our students and volunteers gathered for Thanksgiving celebrations, including the annual Leah's Kitchen event at Temple Emanu-El where VMLC volunteer Cheryl Pollman shared the following message of compassion and love:

“I believe that this Thanksgiving season brings with it a heightened responsibility to recognize the human dignity and divine spark in each and every individual. Our students are among the most vulnerable in our society right now; it is a time when they question whether they are still welcome in America, and many fear for their future. Please join me in making sure that our students are aware of our ongoing support and acceptance, and that they know that our community is a welcoming place for all people. VMLC is a microcosm of our world. We can be living examples of the values we hold dear. We can be passionate advocates for those who need our voices. And we can love even more deeply than we did before.”

Thank you to all who make VMLC a warm, welcoming place as we work together to make a difference in the lives of our students, volunteers, their families and our community. Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!
