Tunnel repairs and maintenance occurring across city

A contractor for Peachtree City will be visiting various tunnels around the city to perform some needed maintenance and repairs.

The repairs involve mostly sealing cracks in the concrete tunnels. The contractor starts their work November 16, 2022. We expect this work to be completed within approximately 3 to 4 weeks.

The tunnels will not need to be closed. There should be enough room for our contractor to work around the carts.

Please use caution in these areas.

CERT graduates honored at City Council meeting

The Mayor and City Council recognized the 32nd class of CERT graduates on November 17th.

CERT, which stands for Community Emergency Response Team, is a program sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that prepares people to help themselves, their family and neighbors in the immediate aftermath of a disaster.

A dozen students received graduation certificates for successfully completing the course. They learned skills like basic medical treatment, light search and rescue, fire and utilities safety, and emergency preparedness.

The 11-week program is capped by a mock disaster exercise.

Registration for the next round of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training is now open. The free classes, which begin in February, are open to the first 24 applicants accepted.

Visit www.cert-ptc.com for more details or contact Sgt. Courtney Lumpkin at (770) 487-8866. Lumpkin can also be reached by email at clumpkin@peachtree-city.org.
