My first and only duty station during my tour in the U.S. Army was in Panama. Panama is a beautiful country, but I was lost and alone. My life was isolated to Fort Davis, work and my barracks. My friends and co-workers were one and the same. Our work shifts were 12 hours long – days or nights – and we often worked 30 days without break.

CRC Recognition
CRC's Volunteer of the Year– Anne Fujioka!
Anne was nominated by CRC staff and endorsed by leadership for her compassionate and ongoing display of our mission through her:
  • Caring leadership in the Food Pantry as a volunteer team leader and the dignity with which she serves our participants.
  • Steady role as a senior bag captain for Holiday Baskets for many years.
  • Willingness to communicate why it’s so critical to have a pantry that is health and nutrition oriented.

Food & Nutrition Program Manager Yanira Alonso and Volunteer Manager Sara Rosenbaum celebrated her recognition with Anne (pictured, center) and her husband Ken at the North County Philanthropy Council's Volunteer Appreciation luncheon on October 28th.
Partner Spotlight
Your support means everything
Funding from our partners supports CRC’s mission to help our neighbors create paths to healthy food, stable homes and safe relationships.

We are grateful for the generous support received from these individuals and organizations in October:

Kinney Memorial Trust
The Eleanor Hutchinson Parker Foundation, Inc
Miraglo Foundation
2022 Lawyers Club Fund for Justice
Subaru Share the Love Event
With Bob Baker Subaru
Give-Back Events help provide critical funding for CRC’s programs making new pathways to healthy futures possible.

This is our 2nd year of being selected by Bob Baker Subaru as a local charity to benefit from the campaign. We are grateful to Bob Baker Subaru and all our community fundraisers for their efforts to support CRC.

From November 17, 2022, through January 3, 2023, with every new Subaru purchased or leased, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s choice of charities. In addition to the four national partner charities, Bob Baker Subaru in Carlsbad has chosen CRC as one of their two local hometown charities for this year’s event, which means you can select CRC to receive the donation!

Make the holidays special for our domestic violence shelter residents
We're asking for your help to make the holidays special for the individuals and families in our domestic violence emergency shelter. Please consider donating your unused gift cards for restaurants, Visa/Mastercard or grocery stores, so they can use these to treat themselves to a special meal out or buy the ingredients for a holiday meal to eat at the shelter.

To donate, bring your unused, unexpired gift cards to CRC's front desk during office hours. If you have any questions, email us at [email protected]. Thank you for your generosity and making the holidays brighter for our clients!
