A Letter of Thanks from 3rd Street's Executive Director,

Joi Jackson-Morgan

Dear 3rd Street Family,

We hope you are settling into the coziness of fall and this letter finds you in good health. With Thanksgiving this week, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your continuous support of 3rd Street. Recently, I have been reflecting on the strength modeled by our youth, communities we identify with, and our world. We have overcome so much personally and collectively over the past few years that one can only feel a special type of resilience has been obtained by us all. And yet with the state of the world and all of the uncertainty we face, I feel hopeful for the future because of the young people we are helping today.

How can we not be inspired by the youth? Despite society saying otherwise, they are tenacious, hardworking, motivated and intelligent. They have demonstrated that they can thrive in life, social situations, and beyond. We need to trust them and help fight for the brighter future they deserve — where they are willed to be healthy, successful, and contributing adults. It is our duty as those who walk alongside the youth, to guide and support them in their journey to health and hope. We not only owe this to today’s youth, but to the future generations who may not inherit the world as we have known it.

Thanks to YOU, our incredible 3rd Street Family, we have helped more than 1800 young adults in BVHP and the San Francisco Bay Area with housing, gender inclusivity, food access, leadership development, and physical, emotional and mental health. Thank you for championing our cause. You have showed up for young people, donated your time and energy, and gifted us with financial contributions–it all makes a huge difference in how we deliver our services. Because of you, we are helping to level the playing field and facilitate the growth and development of our incredible youth.

From all of us at 3rd Street and the youth we support, we are incredibly grateful for your generosity and we look forward to shouldering this work together.

We wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving and holiday season ahead.

Be well,

Joi Jackson-Morgan
