I hope this finds you well, surrounded with your loved ones (socially distanced and under ten people, of course) this Thanksgiving. I'm wishing someone had told us, "Buckle up, butter cup!" It has been an absolute wild ride as I'm sure you have felt the same way we have.
Last week, I was at our desk in the Garden Center working away. Josh, our new Garden Center Administrative Assistant was at his desk nearby. I hadn't spent a lot of time with Josh. We mostly pass each other on the sidewalk, smile behind our masks, greet and keep moving forward.
The phone rang for probably the third time in a few minutes, and I was listening to his conversation. The others were very brief, but this conversation lasted a bit longer. I will let you in on a little secret. If you have not called the garden center, stop what you are doing on Friday after Thanksgiving and call. Why? I can't even describe to you the authentic, warm tenderness of his voice. I literally wanted to lay my head down on my desk and take a nap listening to him. His voice has to be one of the most soothing voices ever. I'm not even kidding.
When he finished his phone call, I complimented him and asked if he could possibly record bed time stories because I would seriously listen to them. He laughed and you won't believe what he said. He says softly, "I just talk to everyone like I talk to my grandmother."
No, you can't have him. No, you can't adopt him. And if you even tried, you can get in line behind the rest of us. We feel so privileged to have him at FGS and he has been a sponge. He is learning far more than he imagined in such a short time. Answering the phone will certainly do that for you!
So in the midst of a busy or quiet holiday weekend, from our FGS family to yours, we wish you a beautiful weekend. We have so much to be grateful for in the midst. Here's hoping we see you soon for all things red and green. We love the changes from season to season and look forward to helping you with all the trimmings. Happy Thanksgiving!
