Good evening, San Gabriel

On behalf of everyone in the City of San Gabriel, we hope you have an excellent Thanksgiving holiday!

As a friendly reminder, the San Gabriel Police Department will not be enforcing overnight parking on November 21, November 22, December 24, December 25, December 31 and January 1. In addition, please note that City Hall will be closed on November 22 and November 23 in observance of Thanksgiving.

Now, here's what's making news for the week of November 21, 2018:
City Council formally accepts San Gabriel Trench
In a 4-0 decision with Vice Mayor Pu absent from the vote, the City Council formally accepted the San Gabriel Trench from the Alameda Corridor-East Construction Authority with the exception of the sewer lift station.

Back in 2011, the City formed an agreement with Union Pacific Railroad and the Alameda Corridor-East project to accept the project within thirty days after the finalized list of construction items have been completed. After working with ACE, staff from Public Works determined that the City can formally accept the project.
Holiday Tree Lighting to take place December 4
Kick off your holiday season at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, December 4!

Festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Plaza Park located at 428 South Mission Drive, across from City Hall. The holiday fun includes ornament making, sponsored by the San Gabriel Women’s Foundation, entertainment by local schools and youth groups, and of course, the big guy himself, Santa Claus!
SGPD receives traffic education and enforcement grant
The San Gabriel Police Department has been awarded a $100,000.00 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a year-long enforcement and public awareness program.

The traffic safety program is intended to educate the public on safe roadway habits and deter people from violating traffic laws or practicing other unsafe behaviors that lead to injuries and fatalities.

It’s basketball season! This is a chance for your child to learn the fundamentals of sports, gain a sense of pride and sportsmanship, and enhance their basketball skills.

The cost will be $125 per participant, which will include the league fee and a jersey. There is no guarantee of placement on a team if not registered by December 21, 2018. All special requests will also need to be made at time of registration.
