This week's message:
"We Have Been Changed For Good"
| | |
Happy Midweek Dear Church!
I sound like a broken record, but I hope you are staying cool and hydrated during these extremely hot days. I would also encourage all of us to carry some cold bottled waters in our cars to give to our siblings in need. We can never know what a simple bottle of water can do for a thirsty individual.
I am so excited about this coming Sunday’s worship experience. Fire Department Battalion Chief, Rodney Ortiz and Sherriff’s Captain, Karla Menzies along with some of their staff will be our guests. As we remember September 11th, 2001 … along with the mental images that have burned themselves into our brains, we remember and honor the first responders that day. Sunday morning we will show our love and appreciation for Poway’s Finest, our very own first responders. I hope you make every effort to be in worship on Sunday. Invite your friends and family … it is sure to be a moving experience.
Tonight, Thursday, we will be launching, Confirm-not-Conform (CnC). Even if you did not sign up to attend, everyone is welcome to come and join together on a journey of theological discovery. We will gather in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m. and be done by 7:30. There will be a light supper served. If you want to come, but need child care, let the church office know so we can make arrangements for a caregiver. If you have Jr. or Sr. high school students in your family, CnC is the perfect place for them to explore their faith. I hope to see many folks tonight!
Until Sunday, know that the God who protects and guides our first responders is right here for us as well. I love being your pastor.
Holding you close and lifting you high!
Pastor Greg

A Message from Pastor Debbie
Peace,
I hope you are all having an enlightening time discovering how you are workers of faith and maybe thinking of new ways you want to put your faith in action. Today, Rocelle Melone, updated me on people that she calls and checks on. I was so thankful. Her compassion for others is her work of faith. I want to continue asking the question of you, “How have you shown the love of God today?”.
Blessings,
Pastor Debbie

CONFIRM NOT CONFORM
September 8, 2022
6pm-7:30pm
One of the best things about our church is the diversity of experience and belief. We gather on Sundays, celebrating all God is doing, sometimes we get so caught up in our “Sunday experience,” that we forget that the call to discipleship is on our lives every day of the week.
Confirm-Not-Conform (CnC) is a program we will be using to ignite our passion for daily construction of who we are and what we hold dear. Folks have asked, “What exactly is CnC?” For lack of a better explanation, it is a confirmation
program for the entire church. CnC is designed for us each, to individually construct what it is we do believe, realizing that our beliefs can grow and change as we put our faith into practice.

Greetings From Outreach!
September Basket Sunday is going to be a “Do Church”!
This month we will be collecting items to create lunches for those in need at Interfaith Community Services in Escondido.
Then on September 25 we will make the sandwiches and pack the lunches together, being God’s hands for our neighbors in need.
Food is our most basic human need, yet thousands of residents in North County San Diego are food insecure. Each day at Interfaith sack lunches are distributed to people as needed and available. Interfaith distributes 300+ sack lunches daily.
We received a list to create the lunches from Interfaith. Items needed -
Soft granola bars
Applesauce
Chips
Small bottle of water or a juice box
Peanut butter and jelly
Closer to the day of packing we will need, fresh fruit such as cuties, oranges or bananas, and bread
Please help however you can. And please be there to help pack these lunches made with love.
As always thank you for supporting the outreach ministry and all of our mission. You are truly God’s hands and feet
Thank you,
Outreach Ministry

Your Favorite Weekly Joke
Thank you for checking out our BUZZ! Here is what you were waiting for! If you have a favorite joke or any tips to make the BUZZ even better, please send emails to julie@ccpucc.org :)
This week's joke is about corn, the reason behind this is due to a very cute, short video interview by "Recess Therapy" that has gone viral on the internet about a young boy, who really just loves CORN! If you would like to check it out, (after reading the joke of course) you can click here or click the video below!
Joke of the Day:
J: What did the baby corn, say to the momma corn?
A: Where’s pop corn?
