The beauty of anti-racism is that you don't have to pretend to be free of racism to be an anti-racist. Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever you find it, including in yourself. And it's the only way forward."

DAY NINE
Reflection

Following this week's programming, you may be questioning your unconscious biases. You may even feel some strong emotions, and that is okay. While you may have certain implicit biases that you were not aware of previously, you have the opportunity to address them. You now have a responsibility to address them. As has often been said, when you know better, you do better.

Today, our challenge for you is to reflect on what you have learned this week. Think back on all the articles, videos and podcasts you have engaged in so far. Focus on the insightful thoughts you had when engaging with these resources.
REFLECTION
Reflect on the following questions:

  • What different kinds of interpersonal racism have you experienced or observed?
  • What actions can you take to address microaggressions?
  • In your workplace whose voices are silenced when they raise concerns? Who inhabits positions of power within your organization?

What are ways in which my action and inaction perpetuate dominant power dynamics? What steps can I start to take to do better?
CONSIDER
Go out into the world and change up what you notice!
