Happy Valentine's Day & THINK SNOW!!!

We've had a blast snowshoeing and doing winter science with great students at overnight programs at Tahoe and invite you to join us in February with your class or your family for day snowshoe trips. Our first Family Snowshoe in collaboration with Gear Hut will be at Spooner Lake Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10-noon. All other snowshoe trips will begin at the Galena Creek Visitor Center.

Spooner Lake Family Snowshoe Sat., Feb. 3

Fresh snow on its way! Complimentary entry into the state park and snowshoes to rent if you don't have your own. Ours fit about ages 8 and up. Please see details & register on our website.

And see our Facebook post from our buddies at Gear Hut.

Class Snowshoe Trips at Galena Creek

Share our winter wonderland with your class! They'll learn some winter ecology and go exploring on snowshoes. See our SnowSchool flier here, our registration form, and email Emily.

Thanks to our partners at Winter Wildlands Alliance, we can share funding for transportation to Galena Creek with the next two low-income schools that register for February SnowSchool. And we encourage teachers and parents to take advantage of Winter Wildlands Alliance online resources for their Snowpack Prediction Challenge and their fun winter learning activities and experiments here.

STEM to STEAM Snow Science

We have to brag about the field journal entries even our youngest scientists recorded during our overnight Tahoe camps. We are proud of how they captured their experience from scientific diagrams to haikus and art.

Towers over me

Trees so big and majestic

Incredible pines.

Warm and so cozy

A cabin in the forest

I love our cabins.

Sagebrush yellow, brown

Our Nevada state flower

It can make you sneeze.

The mountains are so beautiful

Snowy, awesome, and incredible.

Spring Break Day Camp Registration Open

Don't miss your chance to reserve a fun week or two at Adventure Day Camp for your children during spring break March 25 - April 5.

Details and registration here!

Parents of 6-12-year-olds, we'll be at the River School Farm near Mayberry Park in Reno exploring along the trails, doing crafts and activities, singing, and learning from exciting science guest presenters.

Let us know if you have a great guest presenter to suggest as it's always fun to add new ones.

February is GBOS month at Gear Hut

Our friends at Gear Hut feature and support various outdoor organizations, and February is our month. We benefit from gently-used outdoor clothing and gear donated in our name every month, but this month we'll also get 10% of sales on Sunday, Feb. 25 to support student programs, so happy shopping! We respect their environmentally responsible ideals and promise it's worth reading about them right here.

Scholarships for Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is a first-time experience for most of our students, and this young artist was inspired to do a self-portrait on snowshoes. Some of her classmates were able to spend three days at Tahoe with us thanks to your support. You make it possible for us to share scholarships with schools that need a little extra help for their students in need.
