Volunteer Appreciation Month
We're thankful for your support!
April is Volunteer Appreciation Month!

We'd like to share our BIG THANKS to all of our amazing volunteers who help fill over 18,000 volunteer spots each year. Please see below for details on our Volunteer Appreciation Mixer tonight!
(Pictured from left to right: Doc Simmons, Martha's Table Market Leader;
Sharmin Esmail, Volunteer; and Catherine Kenol, Volunteer)

Meet Catherine and Sharmin - two wonderful volunteers who help us spread the joy of healthy eating. They recently volunteered at Martha's Table Market at The Commons, supporting people as they shop at no-cost for fresh fruits, vegetables, and pantry items.

"It's been so awakening! It's my second time here and I want to come back every week." - Sharmin

"I decided to connect with Martha's Table because I remember the last time volunteering was really fun and enjoyable. I love the experience."
- Catherine

Week of the Young Child
In early April, our education programs participated in "The Week of the Young Child," an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The week highlighted early learning; young children, and their teachers, families, and communities. Our activities included a tasting of fresh fruit on "Tasty Tuesday" and special visits from community helpers on "Work Together Wednesday."

Thank you to Commander Wright and the 7th District Outreach Team for visiting our toddler classroom!
Family Literacy Night at
The Commons
Our education program at The Commons hosted an engaging Family Literacy Night for our students. The theme was "Light and Literacy" and activities explored sunlight, shadows, flashlights, light bulbs, and more. Children were also invited to take home books to explore this theme through reading.

Thank you to all who donated books to help build our children's home libraries!
