Thank You Joe Hall for 17 Years of Service With Us!

Joe Hall, owner of Quick Release Bike Shop at 1527 N. Ashland Ave., has been an SSA #33 Commissioner since we were established in 2005. With over 17 years of dedication to the communities of Wicker Park and Bucktown, Joe has left his stamp on our pedestrian and commuter landscape in many ways! You have probably locked your bike to a bike rack that Joe helped design, sat on a bench that Joe advocated for, or enjoyed safer street crossing due to his advocacy for slower speed limits on Milwaukee Ave. and the creation of our traffic-calming planters. There are so many ways that Joe is leaving his mark on our community and we could not be more grateful to him for all of his years of service! To top it all off, Joe Hall celebrated his 20th anniversary in Wicker Park this year and is closing his shop. Thank you so much, Joe! |

Requests for Mural Artists |
WPB SSA #33 is seeking qualifications and proposals for a mural to be painted on the high visibility northeast-facing wall of the Walgreen's at 1372 N Milwaukee Ave. The mural should be appealing and accessible to a broad public audience and contribute to the Wicker Park Bucktown community and artistic legacy. As a location with high pedestrian traffic and potential for vandalism, proposed murals should be thoughtful in how they engage the site. Selected mural artist will receive a stipend of up to $10,000.
Deadline: Friday, March 31 by 5:00 pm

We are seeking ambitious, creative, organized, and opinionated community leaders to join the Commission of Special Service Area #33 – the improvement district of the Wicker Park Bucktown business corridors. SSA #33 plays a pivotal role in streetscaping, landscaping, sidewalk snow removal, marketing, public art, aesthetics, safety, and more.
If you own or rent a PIN-holding property in SSA #33 along the business corridors of Ashland, Damen, Division, Milwaukee, North, or Western and like the idea of spending local tax dollars on improvements and services that benefit the entire community, come joins us. Multiple slots on the Commission are open in 2023. If you think you have the passion and ideas to keep Wicker Park Bucktown thriving, it's time for us to hear from you.

Reminder: Snow Removal in the Winter |
Business Affairs & Consumer Protection (BACP) is reminding business licensees that it is their duty to remove sidewalk snow and ice as outlined in the Municipal Code of Chicago 4-4-310 and 10-8-180.
Each licensee must remove snow and ice from the sidewalk abutting the licensed premises and any sidewalk ramps intersecting such sidewalks, creating a clear path of at least five feet in width. Businesses that do not comply can face fines of up to $1,000 per day of violation.
