Happy & Healthy New Year to All

We are beginning 2023 with much gratitude for the generosity of donors, big and small, for continuing to support our work in Cambodia. 

Education is the best and most effective way out of poverty and we salute those who help educate the Cambodians.  

Carol & Mark Duster of Colorado raised more funds for their Mobile Library with another successful annual Moonlight Pizza evening. They raised over $2,000 – that’s a lot of pizzas sold.

SE Asia Foundation generously donated $2,000 to support their Mobile Library.

Jim Riley gave $2,000 to supply every day preschool materials for our little munchkins attending rural community preschools. Paper and glue and crayons are a precious commodity.

And our Fairy Godmother, Starr Moore, funded our Teaching English to The Teachers Program in Banteay Srei educational district with a fantastic grant of $15,000.

Congratulations to HP Inc who matched grants for Giving Tuesday and raised $7,885 for their Ta Brok Primary School project.

A New School Year Begins

January marks the beginning of the new school year in Cambodia. We marked the occasion in a school opening ceremony within the Ampil Community, the first community where we started our non profit work. Traditional dancers performed to bring good luck for the year.



Graduates

Our CCDO Board member, Jennifer Forney, and her teen daughter Tabi Hansen, donned traditional Khmer outfits to the delight of all when they delivered a commencement address to our 137 graduates of the Provincial Teacher Training College. We had another 519 people graduate from the Battembang Teacher Education College plus another 364 from the Teach English Program in the community schools. We proudly had over 1,000 graduates who will now go on to teach students on a much higher level. Finally, our Teach the Teacher Program is paying off and we are able to spread our English Curriculum to many schools. Jenn emphasized the importance of education and being able to communicate well.



Visitors

Steve Tillis and Scott Friedman of TWCCTW visited their sponsored dental program with hands on checkup of 300 students. Unfortunately, most of the students needed follow up treatments with many cavities.

Steve was thrilled to see their $7,000 dental grant working with dental hygiene and the distribution of toothbrushes and toothpaste to 20,000 children in our schools.

Donors

Joao Pinto ( past president ) of Rotary Club Macau visited their water wells and verified that CCDO was doing a great job on the ground. We are looking forward to future collaboration with RC Macau.
