Celebrate our Summer Interns!
Tahreem Rana
Now a computer science major at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), I had the opportunity to participate in the Exelon Foundation STEM Academy back in 2021. Ever since then this program has been an incredible experience for me, as I have been able to connect with like-minded women in my field and gain valuable insights into the industry. Through attending workshops and networking events, whether on zoom or in person. I have been able to learn and build relationships with professionals in the field.

Furthermore, I am also a member of the Honors College at UMBC, which has provided me with even more opportunities for growth and development. This program has challenged me to think critically and has provided me with a diverse range of experiences that have helped me to become a more well-rounded individual.
Stay tuned for more features on our STEM Academy Scholars’ internships!
Recently, I started a summer internship with BGE Exelon, I am working with the support services team. This internship has given me the chance to apply my CSskills in a business and finance context, which has been incredibly rewarding. I am excited to continue exploring the intersection of technology and business in my future endeavors and hope to make a positive impact in this space. Some insight into my role is that recently I’ve been tasked with learning how to use Power BI, a demanding tool for data analysis and visualization. Initially intimidated by the complexity of the software, I began seeking out to professionals that have mastered it at Exelon. The software is intense and requires dedication, but I am proud to say I am somewhat becoming better in using Power BI now. The software allows you to analyze large amounts of data quickly and efficiently, and to create visualizations that could be easily shared with colleagues. I am confident that my newfound skills will be invaluable to Exelon BGE and my career growth after this summer.
