It has been an amazing year for Bladder Cancer Canada as we saw changes to our volunteer Board of Directors and welcomed three new staff members including our Executive Director, Michelle Colero. Our small but mighty organization is becoming stronger every day, and our success would not be possible without the love and support of our bladder cancer community.

We are grateful for all that you do in helping us achieve our mission – to support patients, increase awareness and fund research.

From the BCC family to you and yours, we wish you the happiest of holidays and a safe and healthy new year!

Meet our new Chair and Vice Chair!
On November 30, during a full day board meeting and strategic planning session, we were so pleased to officially welcome our new Chair and Vice Chair to our Board of Directors. Please join us in congratulating Michele Zielinski in her new role as Chair and Tony Cornacchia in his role as Vice Chair.

Both Michele and Tony have held positions on the board for the past two years and have volunteered in various roles. They also recently participated in our holiday campaign to raise funds for patient support, awareness and research.

You can learn more about Michele and Tony and the holiday appeal campaign below, or by clicking on their names anywhere above.

During the same meeting, we also recognized Ferg Devins for his outstanding contributions as our Chair for the past three years. During this time, Ferg has been a strong spokesperson for BCC and has done countless interviews on behalf of the organization, advocating for national bladder cancer awareness and early detection.
“The past three plus years as Chair have been very rewarding to me and I continue to be so inspired by the work of our volunteers, coast to coast to coast,” says Ferg. “From the continuing efforts of our founders David and Jack, to new volunteers with whom I have spoken to in various parts of the country — I feel that the care and passion for making a difference in the fight against bladder cancer is strong now and will continue in the years to come.

My last words as Chair would be to encourage others to get involved, play a role and find out where you might fit into the family at Bladder Cancer Canada as we continue our mandate to increase patient support, raise awareness and fund research.”

Many thanks to Ferg for all that he has done for the 80,000+ Canadians currently living with a bladder cancer diagnosis!

Together, we can help more people
become bladder cancer survivors.
A bladder cancer diagnosis can feel earth-shattering. But with your support, we can help bladder cancer patients put their lives back together.

This year’s campaign features members of our bladder cancer community, and how, with the help from generous donors, we have been able to support them during their bladder cancer diagnoses, treatments and beyond.
For Michele, our new volunteer Board Chair, muscle-invasive bladder cancer survivor, neo-bladder owner and former ER/ICU nurse, BCC helps her to continue supporting patients as they journey through their disease experiences and when they need it most. Your holiday gift this year can provide much needed funds to support group meetings, like the one that Michele is directly involved with in Edmonton, Alberta.
For Tony, our volunteer Vice-Chair, Bladder Cancer Canada helped him better understand his treatment options for metastatic bladder cancer and helped him understand how to advocate for the clinical trial that would save his life. Your holiday gift can help fund one week of study for the Bladder Cancer Canada Research Program and will save lives, like Tony’s.
Our 2021 holiday gift guide features Ferg, Michele, Tony and other bladder cancer survivors that have benefited directly from the free programs and services provided by Bladder Cancer Canada. The guide describes how your holiday gift will help the 12,500 Canadians that will be diagnosed with bladder cancer next year and has a convenient monthly giving option for each gift.
Please give generously and make your holiday donation today. Donate by December 31 to receive a tax receipt for all 2021 contributions.
